  1. That reminded me of a couple of incidents that happened in Saudi. The first was when I was in a bank and my missus was outside waiting in the car. There was a hell of a commotion outside so I rushed out.. an Arab Bedouin was being beaten down the street by police with canes. I asked my missus what had happened and she said he had come up to the car window , got his cock out and started wanking ! Some more enlightened Saudis seen him and started beating him up, the police arrived and they took over beating him ! Another incident was some American women who worked with my wife were s
  2. I was wondering that myself ? If I’m reading this right the dog is 3/4 Wheaton, 1/4 Greyhound, 28” seems very tall for that breeding. Cheers.
  3. Not quite the Mobil stallion, but a nice, easy going young horse; Not mine, by the way. It’s far easier and cheaper for an old fart like me to borrow than own ! Cheers.
  4. Just got an e mail from my energy supplier, Ovo, yesterday, going up by an estimated £100 a year. Doesn't sound much but along with everything else, it mounts up. Cheers.
  5. This is an absolutely true, first hand story. Around 1980 I was contracted to an Arab sheik. He was horse mad and extremely rich. He saw the advert for, I think it was Mobil oil, on tv, the one with the white stallion, and decided he had to have that horse and bought it. Anyway, it was very highly stung and uncontrollable anywhere near a mare, so decided to have it gelded. At the same time there was a crippled old donkey that wandered around the compound, so another Brit contractor asked the English vet if he could put the donkey down when he came to geld the stallion.
  6. Even if this law eventually passes, it won't make a ha'porth of difference. Individual illegal migrants will STILL be able to appeal and the ECHR court will STILL be able to over rule us. Even if the law is passed, it will be too late to try and deport anyone to Rwanda before the next General Election , which Labour will win, and Kier Starmer has already said yesterday that they will repeal the law. Its all just smoke and mirrors by the Tory's to look as though they are doing something, at last about illegal immigration, in the hope of saving some Tory votes and salvaging a few
  7. They are not new rules, mate, it’s always been the rule, but the premier league teams tried to change the rules to stop Newcastle loaning players from the four Saudi teams that the PIF also own. There was a vote and it needed a majority of 14 teams to vote for the change but only 13 voted for it and 7, including other teams like Man City who’s owners also own other teams voted against it. The problem is, the players that have signed for the Saudi league are on such enormous wages, Newcastle couldn’t take them on loan without falling foul of Financial Fair Play, so I doubt if we will
  8. Most of us never thought we were contenders. We though maybe five years before we cracked the top six. It was exceptional to reach fourth after one and a half seasons, the momentum couldn’t realistically continue. The horrendous injury list is having an effect now but it’s not an excuse, the squad is too thin, it will be added to in the coming windows. I’ll be at the Milan game on Wednesday, something I could only of dreamed of two seasons ago. Cheers.
  9. A Good Samaritan from these sites, who prefers to remain anonymous and hide his philanthropy, largesse, and leading role in “care in the community” behind a facade of toughness, laddishness and, frankly, misanthropy, helped out a poor old pensioner, (me !), by sending two pairs of Altberg Defender boots, one summer lightweight cambrelle lined and one pair of heavyweight gortex lined , but , being charitable, I think he forgot to include the sealskin socks ! Still, I pray for his soul, he’s a good lad really ! Cheers.
  10. Yeah, Kettlewells. Bob is a pal of mine he retired and sold the business on to a lad I know from Burradon. It stopped being a “real” game dealers many years ago. I well remember the hares, rabbits, birds hanging outside the shop when it was at the south end of the market, but it went more mainstream when it moved to the east of the market. I used to get all my dog food from there, Bob would bring it to his house in west Denton and I’d pick it up once a month. Id also get the odd pigs head that had been on counter display but you never see that at a butchers now, it mostly comes in pre
  11. Up here in Newcastle the word “clamming” means really hungry to us older souls, but £44 for those drinks ? Have a word wi tha sell, young’un ! LOL ! Cheers.
  12. An old pal of mine owned what was probably the last old fashioned game butchers in Newcastle. I told him how I butchered roe; he said he would do them for free for me. I asked what was in it for him. He said I waste so much, he could still give me more meat from a carcass and have enough left for venison sausages and burgers to make a few quid. Always best to leave it to the professionals! Cheers.
  13. I always had billhardy as playing truant from the same school as Whin, such was their similarity in education…. So, maybe England/Scotland borders ? Cheers.
  14. Very seldom heard these days, a wonderful synonym for “stone” or “brick”. Also a euphemism for testicles, as in “ he took a kick in the clems “ also known as “clemmies”. Good to see the old words not forgotten! Cheers.
  15. I’d never criticise anyone for buying whatever they want, their money to spend as they like, but the way I go through field jackets, charity shops or ex army surplus suits me ! £1,200 for a coat seems insane to me, I’ve seen decent jackets for a quarter of that. I guess it’s like Barbour, you’re paying a (huge) premium just for the name. But if you can afford it and want it….. buy it ! Cheers.
  16. If you are feeling a bit masochistic, if there isn’t already enough angst, disappointment and self loathing in your life…..get a saluki and feel real depression…… Cheers.
  17. That greyhound race that Moll posted was over 755 metres., do you honestly believe a coursing bred would have won that ? Yeah I still go to the races, I’ll let you know when there is an Open Meeting on at Wallsend which is near me, and you can come up and we will go. I could probably arrange a run between one of your dogs and a whippet with an independent judge and timer. Cheers.
  18. No one is saying that the saluki/greyhound hybrid coursing dog isn’t the best daytime hare dog….it is ! But in terms of all out speed and sprinting it isn’t. Claiming that a coursing bred would lead up a whippet or greyhound is nonsense. Ive timed and handicapped whippets, greyhounds and lurchers, I’ve had money match races, I’ve won and lost. A whippet is the fastest over the short sprint distance, the greyhound is faster than the whippet over, say, 250 yards , and faster over the saluki up to the marathon distances, say 1,000 yards the the saluki/coursing bred come into their ow
  19. And the Arabs wouldn’t have cheated at their saluki racing by adding greyhound blood. They now DNA test them to ensure there’s no greyhound blood in them. Cheers.
  20. The greyhound would score the run-up and the first turn/wrench, then the coursing bred would probably take over and settle in as the greyhound ran out of steam . Cheers.
  21. To misquote Shakespeare’s Shylock; “ If you prick me, do I not bleed ?”. In other words, none of us are perfect….. Your lesson for today, young master ! Cheers.
  22. To be honest, I had a water leak and had to replace a couple of floor boards in the spare bedroom. I finished the job and as I was leaving I stood on a squeaky board that had been annoying me for years, so, tools in hand, I drove a screw through it and straight through a pipe that was immediately below the floor board ! Those lazy b*****ds at Barratts had just notched the top of the joist to run the pipes instead of running them through the middle of the joist. Just imagine if I had done such a shoddy job on a 747 ???? Cheers.
  23. I’ve got a few Irish pals, here and on both sides of the Irish border. Two brothers, ground workers , here are great pals. They will go out of their way to help. My sister has a big old house and it had a concrete and asbestos double garage she wanted taken down and getting rid of. She was quoted over £3000 to have it done. f**k that, said Sean, I’ll do it for £300 ! He put a chain around it, attached to the back of his transit pick up and drove off ! Loaded it up and away. I asked him what he did with it ? Dumped it at the back of the old shopping centre we demol
  24. That looks remarkably like what my pal repaired my pipe with . Cheers.
