Yeah a good game, probably the best Newcastle have played this season . Haaland wasn’t allowed to bully the defence, yes, he put “Handsome Dan “ on his arse once, but Dan showed his intent when he took a lump out of Haalands Achilles! Gordon worked hard and done well but he’s not a centre forward, he’s an out and out left winger, one of two we have with Barnes. We desperately need a striker. Isak injured, Wison never fit and the young lad Osula not good enough yet. But a good display and keeps us in touch. Cheers.

No, I said it should be TWO YEAR for carrying a knife without a valid reason; TEN YEARS for possession of, threatening to use or using a knife in the commission of a crime. I agree with draconian punishments but common sense must also prevail; a man with a Swiss Army knife in his glovebox or a rambler with an opinel in his backpack shouldn’t be treated the same as a hooded youth with a machete down his trousers in the city centre at night. This is a perfect example of what I alluded to; the police couldn’t get him for drink driving so searched his car and found a Swiss Army knife in a pouch in his glove compartment along with a first aid kit and waterproofs so had him for carrying an offensive weapon ! I’d of thought what he had in his glove compartment was what every responsible driver would have, but no, the police wanted a “collar” and got one ! I’m not complaining about inconvenience, I’m suggesting the wrong people would suffer by becoming statistics in the “war on knife crime”. The wrong people would be targeted , it would be easier for the police to search a 70 year old man going to his allotment than risk the “racially insensitive “ targeting of black , inner city youths. As for licensing of knives , how would you propose that was done, would ALL knives; kitchen knives, chefs knives, ceremonial knives , etc, all capable of killing, be included. Let me give you a first hand experience; Woodga, LDR and myself were walking between rabbiting permission’s and the police stopped us and searched us and issued us with notices”suspected of poaching “, even though they saw the permission letters and spoke to the farmers. The police simply wanted to report at the end of their shift that they had made a ‘collar’, they had nothing on us but still issued the notices. The government will f**k this up as all governments do. They will bring in draconian laws about owning and carrying knives, maybe even licensing certain knives. The people who will suffer will be the bloke walking his dog and having a Swiss Army knife in his pocket or a bloke like me going to his allotment with an opinel pruning knife. Whatever your view, the Yehudi have played a blinder, ( pardon the pun) , everyone in the Middle East is now looking at their tv remote and thinking “ what channel do I click on and this thing blows my hand off ? “ Im not being facetious here, my 9 year old grandson is at school out there and I worry about his safety. It’s interesting that you say “ more permissive days”. Alf often mentioned Mary Whitehouse and things like nudity and sex were far more restricted in those days, but anti semitism, racism, homophobia were acceptable. Today it’s reversed. Nudity and sex is acceptable on TV , but if you are accused of being a transphobe, homophobe or racist you will be cancelled in a heartbeat ! I’m watching a lot of the old repeats but I think Alf Garnett in both versions of the show is a bit dated now, still funny but not as much as it was. I like It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, still as hilarious as ever. Rising Damp and Porridge are still great , and of course Only Fools And Horses are timeless classics. That immediately brought to mind an episode I’ve mentioned on here before; My brother was walking his terrier and lurcher when the terrier squatted for a shit. A woman driving past stopped and jumped out of her car and started shouting at my brother “ I hope you are going to pick that up !” My brother stared at her with those dead eyes you associate with a mass murderer, picked up the dog shit with his bare hand and smeared it over her windscreen !
