Two old pals of mine, Captain Ron Edwards and “little” Jeff Dickinson, built a boat on the Red Sea in Saudi and sailed it to the Philippines and bought one of those small islands with the intention of starting a Dive School. They soon found it that it wasn’t as easy as they thought, having to boat in water, food, fuel, supples, building materials etc. and it fell through. I got a box for my mothers uncle who was a retired marine engineer. His name on the box and each individual cigar. Im sure I saw his eyes moisten as he looked at them and I’ll bet he was thinking of his time steaming around the South China and Andaman Seas….. Cheers.

Your omission wasn’t an oversight, mate. As the majority of my intended cast could be best described as far right with Fascist leanings, there was room for only one token Bolshevik and that was reserved for young Hull, he just pipped you because of his lovable , childlike, humour and naivety. I knew him quite well when we were teenage mods, and we once swapped Lambrettas. We lived very close but drifted apart in our 20’s, he went to London to find both fame and fortune, I went to live and work in the Middle East , not finding fame, but made a decent life for my family and myself. He often mentioned his early pals in his various programs and he mentions my mother and my late brother in law in his autobiography, and his tv shows. Cheers.

Lebanon could make a start by not letting Hezbollah fire missiles indiscriminately into Israel, but they won’t because they support Hezbollah. Yes, I agree there will obviously be collateral damage , but Israel will mitigate that because the only people carrying the pagers were Hezbollah and their supporters. I’m not defending that in the least. Do you know anything about the missiles Hezbollah fire into Israel ? Firstly, I’m not defending Israel’s actions. Secondly, do you know how many Israeli citizens have been killed In Hezbollah missile attacks ? I said I don’t know the answer to the Middle East problem, but I guess a start would be a cease fire on all sides. Cheers.

I’d guess the Israeli response to that would be ; “Hezbollah are firing thousands of missiles into Israel from Lebanon with the full support of the Lebanese government and we are defending ourselves…..reap what you sow”. I don’t know the solution to the “Middle East problem”; and as I’ve said before, I’m an Arabist but fully support and defend Israel’s right to exist. Cheers.

And it isn’t just the case of the pagers exploding, Hezbollah will now look at all their phones, computers, electronic devices in a different way now, plus they will wonder who in their organisation is complicit in this ! I wouldn’t like to be the bloke who bought all the pagers ! Cheers.

Hezbollah leaders told their fighters not to use smart phones as the Israelis could hack into them, and to go back to using pagers . Today hundreds of pagers have exploded injuring Hezbollah fighters. Israel has so far not commented …… Cheers.
