  1. Just read this thread and i feel for you mate, I really do. I used to be a dog warden so know they do turn up. As others have mentioned try the dog warden and keep on at them, also try local vets, police and kennels, also keep your eyes peeled evening and morning when the new "owner" could be walking her. Leaflets and posters also work, I lost a dog a few years ago wiho had lost her collar but she was picked up at the roadside and the person saw a poster and returned her. Good luck.
  2. Top stuff ditch, never seen one even though they are common on the highland estate we stay at..........
  3. Hope you find her a good permanent working home
  4. Have you tried Brownhills at Newark byron?
  5. Glad you sorted the problem, some good advice. Some things are acceptable but getting possesive over the food bowl isn't one of them.
  6. I think you hit the nail on the head with that....................
  7. See you this weekend at the Poncefort arms for a white wine sprizter big boy
  8. Not everyone works from a slip, I was trying to highlight the positive use for a whistle............
  9. i use the irish whistle i put 2 fingers in my mouth and shout COME HERE same here in never heard of anyone using a dog whistle for a lurcher Heres a scenario, your are out hunting and your quarry breaks cover 50 yards to the dogs right but the dog is looking left, a shout won't do much good a but recall followed by a right whistle may add to your bag..............
  10. Does anyone remember an advert in the working terrier yearbook? About 1997-1999 for fieldsport courses on terrierwork, lurchers etc, I was a young lad at the time and my dad phoned the number but the company had folded, the guy on the phone turned out to be Plummer..............
  11. I use a sheepdog whistle, although the metal ones aren't as good as the plastic ones. I have used a variery of commands on the whistle, recalls, lefts, rights and downs. They are very good when a dog is at a distance
  12. Reading my post back it looks harsher than how I intended it. Shepherds have a good nose, coat, pretty good stamina and a fair turn of pace. They also have good agility, inteligence, drive and power. Of course i'm talking about imported working lines and not show crap.................
  13. Yes but remember Tony, once is mistake , twice is unfortunate but nine times and I smell a rat..............That what you expect drinking in some of the establishments you frequent............
  14. To ask what can they offer a lurcher and state they have no hunting instinct shows you have had little contact with the breed. Try doing a search and find some of the threads or ask Heart of Wales or skycat about their GSD lurchers.....With regards to the breeding of your lurcher, who knows its all guess work really but as long as she works for you, does it matter??
  15. Could be interesting.
  16. I was serious.........Wilfs line is 100%. He hunts them as a pack to shrews in the winter and shows in the summer...........
  17. Anyone can use a terrier for pest control but the true test of a dogs value starts when the sun is in the sky, the beer tent is open and the call of the shows begin. A true test of a dogs value is how many red rossettes they can pull down in a season
  18. pretty bows ah .never needed the shows to tell me weather a dog is any good,if the dog works for me thats all i need Wilf beleives in dual purpose tykes. He uses the shows to air his plus fours and tweed jackets
  19. Not only does Wilf work them they do rather well in the show ring with pretty bows.
