don't like cats at all, but there are cats on every farm i have permission on, so my dogs are broken to them, (otherwise i'd loose all my permission!). I can see why the farmers have them to keep down the rats and mice. What i don't understand is why cat ownership has not been banned? Cats are pretty indicriminate, killing all types of small animals, rare or not, and i hate to see a cat 'toying' with it's prey. A dog kills quickly without the messing about a cat does and that gets banned. it's just not logical! mind you when did politicans allow logic to get in the way of passing bad law

I agree with that, apart from the bit highlighted in red. The whole Multicultural thing is set out on the basis of no integration between cultures. The example you give with Hindi friends is not multiculturalism at work, it's quite the opposite and is what we should be aiming for. Your spot on really, i still say multiculturalism is a good thing however the previous multicultural policy was to have separate communities, which i didn't realise, and it seems crazy! thanks for putting me straight! Please explain ?......because from where im sitting it does far more harm tha

Multiculturalism is in my opinon a good thing, and should incorporate equality for all, regardless of colour/race/creed, BUT without detriment to the British culture. Our culture is constantly eroded by others. I have hindu friends who integrate perfectly into Britain whilst maintaining their faith and customs, and there presence here strengthens our society, and makes our life richer and more interesting. I'm sure that the same can be said for a majority of muslims. If Britain is so bad, and they want to live in an islamic state, why don't they emmigrate? If the government doesn't get a

I dream about these open warrens you see in some pics on here, but 99% of my ferreting is in cover of some sort. On one of my permissions there is an area of about an acre, which is all thick bramble and fern. I tried ferreting it before, with just the dogs to catch, as setting nets seemed like an impossibility to me. I nearly lost the ferret, despite having a locator as she could move through the warrens and cover quicker than i could move on top. So how do you guys go about this type of warren? I know clearing the area would be the obvious answer, but i don't think the land owner would

Small lurcher or whippet to help terrier out?
TIMMAY replied to Jordb543's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
might be worth considering a larger/racier lurcher than a beddyxwhippet, i have a small lurcher and terrier, and their roles are a bit blurred with both entering cover, but would prefer the terrier to do the bushing, and a larger racier lurcher to run in the open. The whippet may be spot on, but would also consider any cross that is 3/4 sighthound if it is primarily to catch rabbits in the open. Ultimately it depends on the areas your working and exactly what roles you want the dog to perform. -
thermos it is then! cheers for the info, had a plastic thermos a few years back, filled with tea ready to do a 30 mile hike, 30 yards in fell off my rucsack and smashed the glass inside them stainless ones look durable, and if you can drop it off a scaffold, i'm sure it'll do for me. the kellykettle looks good for camping, or fishing, but don't fancy carting it around! thanks guys!

Thinking of getting a flask in this cold weather, and was wondering if cheapest will do, or can anyone recommend any brands or places to get one?

Seen it all in the local rag and on the news. Mike Sharrat of i think the badger trust is always chirping on using 'cruelty' as a key factor, what makes me laugh is that this guy was against fox - hunting as it was 'cruel', leaving trapping and shooting of foxes as the only real means of population control so presumeably its fine to trap and shoot foxes, but 'cruel' when a badger???!!! NO LOGIC Typical animal rights nut! He also was banging on, on the news about tb being controlled in the early or mid 20th cenrury with NO CULLING. prior to the badger act i presume land owners would have had

If you want some insects for it pronto, silent world aquarium in tenby should have some, or theres a shop in narbeth, i think it's called scales and tails. Mealworms/morio worms, are cheap, and probably a good staple, waxworms are pricier, but have a higher fat content, and will add a bit of variety!

So having mud or dog hair in the back of your motor is evidence now! And the poor dogs may be injured doing something they love is cruel. Better phone the nspcc next time i see some kids playing football, rugby, riding a bike e.t.c. don't they're parents know they could be injured. What a pathetic piece of television.

I'm not a political animal at all, but at the moment you can't really escape it! I was wondering what peoples views were on the welsh assembly, and scottish parliament? What I mean is i'm welsh, proud to be welsh, and love my country, but I just see the welsh assembly as another level of government which creates a load of jobs for the vermin that are politicians, and gives more of them a chance to use up our taxes on spurious expenses. Im fairly sure we could have a fair few more docs/nurses/coppers/teachers, even hospitals, schools, care homes, if money wasn't wasted, for instance, the 100

I've tryed re-blueing an old webley vulcan before, and the results were not good, despite alot of prep to the metalwork, and following the instructions carefully, however i didn't use a gel. I'd be very careful, and try it out on an inconspicuous part of one of the rifles, before doing anything drastic to either, just to be sure your happy with the result it gives. Good luck, i'll be interested in how it turns out.

Sad thing is this is probably a majority view! The lunatics are well and truely running the asylum.

I think i posted a bit over a year ago about my then new lurcher pup being diagnosed with a heart murmour. The replies were very reassuring, and sure enough by the time she had her second set of jabs the (different from the first time) vet said couldn't hear anything wrong. Great! My dads old terrier died a couple of months ago, and as my father is disabled had spent alot of time with the dog he was absolutely devasted. So we got him a beddie pup a couple of weeks ago, and he loves it. Took it to have it's second set of jabs today, and her apparently 'strong heart' 2 weeks previously is

Went to see my local hunt meet this morning (new years is bigger than boxing day round here), and i'm glad to say there must have been about a thousand people there in support. There were however about 10 anti's having a moan with their banners, which due to living in a democracy i fully except that people are allowed to protest peacefully, and i'm glad they can, however hearing them shout comments like 'bitches on horseback', and derogatory comments to kids (really wound me up), i was wondering why the police present didn't tell them to pack it in. The hunt were about to conduct a legal act

This is the second time i've contacted the bbc about their bias, this time I added at the end of my comments: 'I have complained previously about your programming on similar matters, and can see that it has not left any impression. I would therefore ask for a reply which is not an automated letter, or a 'fill in the blanks' responce, but an actual responce written one off by an actual individual, explaing why your progamming is biased?, and how Mr Craven's change in attitude to coursing can be so extreme?' As i had a similar response as yours the first time, which was about one of iolo wil

a mate's mum has a dog called clive! and another mate had a grandad that called all his dogs bob, so he wouldn't forget their names!

I know this won't mean alot to most of you, but went out with a mate who's been away for a few months with the air rifles on saturday, and only got one rabbit, but he was well keen so insisted we go out last night just before dusk. Now sky has taken to obedience well, but unfortunately I haven't been able to put rabbits infront of her with still nights, and livestock (evil cows) been out all over my permissions. Anyway my mate shot a rabbit, which was a twitcher, so i sent sky on to it, and after a little hesitation she performed a textbook retrieve! I was well chuffed, and give her loads
