  1. gotta be meat for me, would much rather by cheaper cuts, from the butchers, than cheap premium cuts from the supermarket. The taste is miles better, and you deffo get what you pay for in my opinion.
  2. Jeremy Beadle's corpse is in the morgue, and there's two mortitions undressing him. They get all his clothes off, and he has a tiny penis. The first mortition says 'i didn't realise he had such a tiny penis!' And the second mortion says 'well on the other hand it's massive'
  3. Dimebag Darrel!!! Gutted when he got shot, but at least i managed to see him live once.
  4. from what i understand, businesses can't send in the post but individuals can! Mad i know!
  5. I'm 26, and first shot with an air rifle aged about 10. Never had my own, but used to shoot tin cans, targets, e.t.c. on friends farms growing up. Got an old webley vulcan about 5 years ago, and upgraded to a lightning xl about 3 yrs ago, and started hunting. Been into field sports in general since about the age of 12. Oh and a GAT gun is the most awesome airgun ever made what were those little darts all about?
  6. Don't have a wealth of experience, i picked my pup up about 3 weeks ago. All the litter had gone apart from 3 bitches, and it was a bitch i wanted. 2 blue ones black and white. When i entered the pen i was mobbed by the pups, with some chewing my boots, some mingling round me. One of the blue bitches was keeping away, so i had a look at her, but when i put her down she was skulking at the back of the pen so i dismissed her, and choose the blue bitch that had been mingling around me, middle of the pack i suppose. Also check the pup over carefully for deformities. I only noticed a few hour
  7. An award should go to the Virgin Airlines gate attendant in Sydney some months ago for being smart and funny, while making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo. A crowded Virgin flight was cancelled after Virgin's 767s had been withdrawn from service. A single attendant was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travellers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, ' I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS'. The attendant replied, 'I'm sorry, sir. I'll be ha
  8. would hellwork mean that it would inhibit the dogs hunting instincts, or can you have it both ways?
  9. Just wondering if anyone uses training classes, when doing basic obedience with a pup? Went to classes when i was 11 with the rescue dog we had just got, and he was turned from a nightmare into a reasonably well behaved dog in a couple of month. Are there any drawbacks to going to these types of classes with my new lurcher pup? i guess it will help with socialisation as well? I have read loads of books, and have dave sleights dvd's which are good, but thought classes might be a good idea, as things rarely go the way they describe in books!
  10. what are you talking about, overcrowded? too expensive? the government told us that the MASSIVE influx of eastern europeans would strengthen our economy, didn't/don't you listen to mr blair/brown? And look at our economy now, brilliant on the up and up I don't hate any religion, colour, race, nationality, what i hate is this government, how can they attempt to run a country without any commonsense whatsoever? If your expecting a few tens of thousands of immigrants to turn up, and then near a million turn up, why stop them coming much earlier on? I don't hate the people for coming, th
  11. thought i'd reply to keep you happy! Used to work in a petshop with some waste ground ou the back, and a bloke used to walk a basenji there, i had a chat with him once, said it was a great pet. Looked real useful little dog, ideal sort of size for ferreting without crossing to anything else? but i doubt you'd find any working strain though. Sorry got no old stories about lurchers, but as for the future, i reckon its bleak. We'll all be eating lentils that have died of natural causes, or meat that is intensively reared and processed underground so no-one has to face the fact that meat co
  12. Can't comment on the supplements themselves, but would just like to say i ordered some keeper's mix yesterday, and it arrived today! Very good service, which i find refreshing, as ordering over the net or by phone i normally find a nightmare. Also when i rang the person that i spoke to was very helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in the type of dog i had, and offered to give advice if i ever needed it. WELL DONE DORWEST!!!
  13. I was the reptile specialist for a chain of petshops in south wales till about a month ago, kept mainly lizards for the last 15 years off and on, but also had tree frogs, rough green snakes, and royals. Been in contact with loads of different reps through my old job, fav is deffo the basilisk lizards, especially the green. I HATE tokay's, they are beautiful, but soooo agressive it's unreal!
  14. book i'm reading says that butter is a good source of vit E, but i reckon your right there's probably enough bad stuff in butter to out weigh the good, i'll see if i can get some wheat germ oil! might omit the mushrooms as well, but i think i'll keep the beans, just for some variation. to those asking about whether a dog needs any veg, i reckon that wolves would eat stomach contents in the wild, and therefore get some 'veg' in that respect, and may have a chew on some vegetation. so it's trying to copy that really. Not saying that just feeding meat is wrong, it's just different, i say i
  15. Butter and peanuts are a good source of vitamin E, and as you stated that that this would be removed by freezing, i thought that a small amount of fresh butter/peanuts would be a good way to put this back in the diet? Mushrooms, and baked beans are supposed to be good for fatty acids. Please don't feel that you wasted your time, by posting the list, but i will look at other sources, and try and make a rounded decision. Just wanted different opinions, to help! cheers
  16. with regards to vegetarians, when i was at uni, i had a mate who was a vegan! he knew i hunted when back home, and we talked quite a bit about. We were having a chat one day, and one of my flatmates started on about how cruel i was going hunting, as he was cooking a chicken curry! Well the vegan give him a load of shit about being a hypocrite and backed me right up! I have more respect, and would engage in conversations on the morality of hunting with the vegan, cause at least he had some (twisted) principles! Meat eaters who have a pop at hunters have no principles, they are just idiots who
  17. I think that site is refering to some species, not all species of mushroom, i guess like with humans and mushrooms? but i'll bear it in mind and do my research on mushrooms now! the book i'm reading says that they are a good source of omega 3 oils for dogs.
  18. Ok this is the diet i am going to strive to give my new pup, 60% RMB 10% OFFAL 30% VEG made up of mainly greens like spring/mustard greens, with mushrooms, baked beans, banana, carrot, sweetcorn, sweet potatoe, pumpkin, squash, peanuts, brocoli, sprouts. also some sardines, raw egg, butter, natural yoghurt, and a supplement like keepers mix added occaisionally. does this sound about right? also should i give the pup the same amount that i expect her to eat as an adult per day? [split into smaller meals of course] sorry to be a pain with so many questions!
  19. Cheers skycat, that's what i figured, did an experiment on veg when i was in school on vit c, and different storage methods, and frozen beat 'fresh'! Just wondered if anything else was damaged by the freezing process.
  20. Right got a new pup, and i'm reading through Give your dog a Bone by dr billinghurst. Defo want to get her and my old dog on BARF asap, but i have a question about the veg part of the diet. I know it probably seems lazy, well i suppose it is really, but would it be OK to by veg in bulk, get it mashed, and freeze it? I know fresh is normally best, but do you barfers know if there's any major drawbacks to freezing veg?
  21. Again thanks for all the nice comments, but i can't believe no one has commented on the beautiful bed spread she's on!
  22. No sid but cheers for the help anyway, really appreciated, a bit too far for me, and less collie than i wanted in the mix good luck with yours mate! Glad the rest of you like her thanks for the nice comments!
  23. her are the pics of her, hope this works! She is already taking down socks single handed
  24. Not long got home with my new lurcher pup! She's blue with a little white on the paws, and front! Pics to follow soon hopefully. Most chuffed i've been for along time!
  25. Duly noted, someone at home most of the time, so hopefully a deterent in its self, but i'll deffo take security into consideration.
