  1. Just popped out for an hour. I do so love a 410?. A little bit of sun in this cold wind was nice. I noticed the buck rabbits are getting frisky too which was nice to see too. My dog enjoyed working them too and she lifted a pheasant too. Never seen so many pheasants about this year, there was 14 hens in the back yard today. One hen was old and in cock phase. I told the Mrs whom immediately started to laugh saying " you do that'! SD.
  2. I think that's why stav has been quiet...he has been sneaking back at night detecting!
  3. Silenced shotgun + pinch of green dot + 7g of small shot = quiet garden gun. Hey, you like chewing my bird feeders do you, try chewing on this then!
  4. Took Busty Bess out this morning and she got a brace of birds. She struggled some today, that damp cold wind was spoiling the prime within minutes, she normally is quite fast for a large lock but today it felt like a slow fuse! Good ole' Bess.
  5. Where are they from stav? I remember the zastavas, they were good. The cz 500 or is that 600 series seem to get overlooked too. While I am lamenting, I lament the lack of interest in the 1/4" bores (other than 25/06) in this country.
  6. To be honest, I have never known a cartridge to be so troublesome than any other cartridge ever made!
  7. Depends what the mice have been feeding on is my guess ?
  8. Personal choice. I don't like light bullets. Great on little critters but so is a 22. A 17 has some reach, as long as it's not blowing. If it's blowing your range will have to come down, down to 22 distances. I don't like that tiny bore to clean, a 22 hardly ever needs a clean! Some ammo issues with her, no ammo issues with 22. From my point of view 17 has the edge on safety....not that a 22 is especially dangerous then! Some love the velocity a flat traj. I like some bullet so that if I do get it there it does drive through. Personal choices. Besides, I don'
  9. I tend to not see HV 22 ammo as extending range, I see it more as a harder hitter at normal distance (100yd or less) and better in winds.
  10. A lot depends on the rifle but basically a 50 yds zero with normal HV ammo 1200-1300 FPS should be around -2"-3" at 100. A sub sonic will be -7" or so compared....maybe worse. The hyper velocity ammo I seem to struggle finding and worth while good accuracy from. Probably due to light bullets poorly made ect and the trans sonic thing. I only ever had any joy with stingers out of a Remington 597. And it reached out with them but no other 22 I owned would shoot them and that's several rifles!
  11. HV 22. They make for a reasonably flat 100yarder shooting. With a good bullet, quite a jump in whoopability.
  12. No where near but thanks for the offer?
  13. How I understand the law one has to be 15+ to use a shotgun unsupervised so supervised by an adult (21+) should be ok.
  14. I can see them taking off, I think our general obsession on being Uber quiet is a red herring! No body seems to notice the racket made when you hit your target! That can't be muffled out! These will flatten out the traj a shade and make autos function more reliably too. Sorry to side track Villaman.
  15. I'm on the look out for some of them too.
  16. They'll get a bit smarter now too but fly better for it ?
  17. Grand stuff ?. I took a hen in cock phase once, dam thing needed boiling for four hours before cooking! Would of made a good sole for one of me boots!!
  18. Hair cut or brylcreem Stav? It was nice here this morning but it's cooled down and threatening rain now. Have you had a good day mate?
  19. As long as that shopping money and the mortgage is paid she don't mind what I smell of mate ?
