Wales suffered more years of atrocities at the hands of the English and so did Scotland probably because we don't have a sea barrier between us. I wouldn't think many welsh or Scottish don't feel some resentment for what has happened in the past but that's It.. The past. The take the knee comment was aimed at this poor hard done by past attitude. Same as going on about slavery that's also in the past.

It was about job losses mate, the clue is in the word "slimline" though i think wages were part of the overall negotiations and some gained financially. Not much good to those who lost their jobs though.

Thatcher put Ian Mcgregor in charge of slimlining British Steel. The steelworkers unions asked the miners to support them in their upcoming strike action. The miners under Skargill voted to stay out of it as they thought their jobs were safe. The steelworker's were shafted with large scale job losses. Ian Mcgregor was then put in charge of the NCB with the well documented results and devastation of mining communities. Support for the steelworkers could have let to a much different conclusion. Probably more to it than that if you look online.
