I seen lots of places built on over the yrs ,industrial estates get bigger and housing and roads being built to cope with increasing population ,

Haven't done any ferreting last couple weeks as every were flooded out and luckily these paddocks are on a slope so mostly dry still , young bitch done well ,I took her out with my busher few weeks ago and they got bored as it was slow so when one did bolt they got jealous about it and it was a pain so from now on ,one dog at a time, atb

I took my young lurcher bitch and my two Jill's to ferret a paddock that for last two yrs hasn't held any but this yr they look to be back and doing ok , the rabbits have dug in to a old dung heap and along a fence the ,lurcher marked several places and 58 nets were dropped , I collared my two Jill's and we took 3 healthy rabbits in nets and my young bitch took one that bolted from under a sheet of old tin roof . only had 3 hours at it as riding lessons start on paddocks but I'll be going back over xmas as the lurcher was marking all along a hedge row that used to hold good numb

What dogs is everyone running this season?
Moocher71 replied to B Woodsford's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Thanks , yes they are pricey but just like ferret finder or terrier box it's a bit of kit that could save our dogs .had a look at a garmin kit but sportdog looks better bit of kit. atb mouch -

Any more gundog lurchers out there
Moocher71 replied to Shortstraw's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
A mate as a lab x Norfolk he got from Jeff b who breeds Norfolks "bitsa" line . last time I see it it looked like a strong bull x ,few days I was in company of them it worked as good as any x as a mouching jook. gun dogs always been used you just don't see many today .i think a golden retriever "working type " would make a good jook . avtb mouch -
My bedlington greyhound bitch 20 mts and 22/23 tts So far I'm very happy with her ,this is her first season and she's ticking all the boxes . atvb lads mouch

When I was a youngster they was plenty deer hound x s that took plenty of hares ,deer and fox . then came the saluki and they took favour over the deer hounds and xs , to b honest I never had a deerhound or x as not my type . daves dogs are deerhound greyhound x deerhound grey .i know couple lads that work them and they speak highly of them , i was just trying to help the fella and that's why I said platts dogs . like I say not my type . mouch
-
Go to Dave platts ang get a first x at least you know they are bred the right way and few from this line have gone to USA and oz and do well on Roos and coyotes . its finding a pure d hound bred the right way as the show, money breeders messed them up . first x way to go in my opinion . good luck with your search moucher

Some coppers go out there way to make life hard for us as they haven't got f@ck all better to do ?" Like smack dealers and nonces to lock up so they give field men hard time , back in day it was Oakham police they proper c@nts and take you in for anything . i don't hide the fact I go out with my jooks and local they got better things to do than lock me up for s coney .but in some areas were lads have made it hot it's different story and I hear of lads loosing motors ,dogs and jail . If Corbin gets in we all going to b poachers anyway ,as he we ban all hunting with dogs full stop -

I still walk home with coney ,birds on game hanger local ,no one blinks a eye lid and if they did then f@ck um , If he only had rabbits they can do nothing ! -
Well said ,my grandad always had a greyhound about his yard and I remember him traveling over to Ireland for good coursing stock back in late 70s my uncul also spent many yrs in Ireland as he married farmers daughter and they kept coursing hounds ,he still travels over there now each yr for meets ,he always telling me to move over there as it's different world .stupid ban etc ,and I can see Corbin banning all hunting with dogs no matter what the pest . atvb mooch

I grew up on the rd ,we kids would always have a few jooks towing along and most days we helped fill the pot ,my first dog was a whippet at age of 11 That one of the Stanleys gave me ,we had some fun ,if I was looking for a pure sighthound it would have to b a whippet . atb

I'm sure if he looking for a greyhound he will soon find one ,why a Spanish sight hound or saluki ? Are they better than our own greyhounds then ? we all no merits of saluki but are you trying to say Spanish galgo are a better choice than our own hounds , i see plenty of vids on line of these Spanish "greyhounds " running hare etc ,and yes they run hard ground but to say and think they are a better choice than our own greyhound is crazy . get a greyhound pup from good coursing parents or good track dogs ,it will do as much as any lurcher given the chance , we don't need to
