  1. interesting point there. I wonder if these wonder rabbiters who say this have realised the equipment & technology they take for granted wasn't available at that time.
  2. I think it could make a very good ferreting dog. would want it off working stock. the thing is how many people actually work Irish terriers?
  3. Yes a chap at work (not a dreamer or arse hole) stopped the van on way home what he thought was a rabbit sat at roadside. turned out to be a leveret full of myxi.
  4. very poor rabbit population around here been like it a few years. dog has killed 6 with myxi in last 2 weeks. I don't care what people say about new diseases myxi is still the biggest killer of rabbits.
  5. you need speed to catch a bolted rabbit anywhere. all this talk of easy rabbits they don't just sit and wait for the dog. I have never ferreted the dales but my money would be on the dogs mentioned the collie would get no where near them.
  6. look at the chap on here bolting to his whippets & grew. also big lad & his little helper in the dales. do you seriously believe a near on full collie would catch even a small percentage of what there dogs do bolting to the dogs?
  7. if this litter was advertised on preloved nobody would be talking about them
  8. one minute we have threads saying Mike brown whippets are slow and now all you need is a collie. you couldn't make it up. ffs.
  9. that's it then. everyone buy a collie.
  10. I don't think your missing anything. they are virtually collies and how many collies do you know with speed to catch rabbits. people underestimate how fast short run rabbits are more so in the daytime.
  11. it's your choice. I only really work rabbits and value hunting up, working cover, hedgerows, brambles and above all marking more than anything. but I do like a dog quick enough to catch rabbits and reverse crosses don't look quick enough for me.
  12. Big majority of kits around July. you get a few earlier and later but that's main month.
  13. not got a problem with outcross or beddy type. if it looks like a bedlington & does what a bedlington should. do you think the problem is the greyhound? how many people keep a greyhound for work. not much use for anything but breeding. you have to first get a greyhound then get rid of it after.plenty of people with good working whippets it's much easier breeding with a dog you already own and work. maybe better with a non ped which are part grew anyway?
  14. first cross beddy greyhound are as rare as rocking horse shit. why do you think that is. must be a reason?
  15. as they say horses for courses. that little 19tts second cross would suit me perfectly.
  16. have you ever thought we have all been doing it wrong all these years? ?????
  17. it's mainly brambles, hedgerows and rail embankments for me. I just feel the little dogs handle it better.
  18. depends what you want it for. if you don't lamp and only need a little ferreting mooching dog the you are better off back to whippet.
  19. what is your reason for a reverse cross? what does it bring to the table over a first cross or straight beddy?
  20. why don't you give underdog on here a pm. he has a lovely keen first cross bitch. he put it to a. Well bred stud whippet last year unfortunately it didn't take. ask him if he plans a litter this year. ?
  21. somehow my friend I don't think you are a stranger to the old crafts
