    Chicken/ spinach / chestnut mushrooms cooked with Marsala, cream and a lot of garlic, looks like a tramps omelette but tasted spot on ?

    Yeah, I’ll be spending more time up there in the coming weeks so with a bit of luck I’ll get to see what’s about ?

    The 2 main pens will take 400 poults the smaller one 250, this season we’ll just be using the 2 main pens 400 in each although the pens are not massive and the birds soon paddle them up, we have them out to wood in under a week, as soon as they know where they live

    I’ve got them set up with large poultry drinkers in two pens and in the other little pen I have it going to a plastic 45 gallon drum, cut in half and fitted with a ballcock from an old cold water tank, to stop it overflowing, I just have the IBC’s above the drinkers and let gravity take over

    I’ve had a few days/ evenings out when the midge have brought an end to the shooting early because I just didn’t want to shoot whatever I was after enough to put up with been eaten alive second on the list of horrible bastar*ds is when I’m out when they are combining and you get covered in the little weevil things, feels like your hole skin is crawling

    What I find odd is if they had managed to ban grouse shooting it would be on every news channel and in every paper, but for some reason the various shooting organisations seem to be very bad at dealing with media or publicising the work they do and what they stand for, another good reason to join fieldsports britain, theses fellas seem to be the only ones producing good quality media coverage in support of shooting

    Right, that’s the pens finished, 8 posts replaced and a bit of wire put back up, it seems the fallow had decided to use the back of the forestry pen as a short cut, trampling the wire and pulling it into the bracken. Now it’s IBC’s filled and feeders repaired and put out, I still have a good few birds kicking about mainly along the edge of a field of rape ( I say rape, the whole crop is full of Poppy’s, I’m not sure what’s going on there )a good way from the pen’s, so that’s a good thing, there was a hen with 4 poults around the farm, speaking to the landlady she said it had 7 to start with an

    ?bloody weather, I was all set for an hour bunny bashing as the weather looked like it was going to miss us, then one rumble of thunder and I’d now need scuba gear to go out it had better not be like this tomorrow when I’m repairing the pens up at the shoot

    I love the look of the bottom one, I’m not much of a shotgun chap but since I got rid of my hatsan semi I miss having something to chuck on the front of the quad when I’m up at the shoot

    Back to the egg units for an hour tonight, definitely starting to put a dent in them now and the have certainly wised up, only 11 for 12 shots, the grass is coming down next week so I should get a good go at them once that’s down, I managed a couple of good 70+ yard head shots through fences that I was pleased with ?

    A phone call today from the bloke with the helicopter, saying that there’s rabbits all over his pitch and putt golf course at the front of his house, so dusted the little cz.17 off, because you can’t get anywhere near them and off I went for an hour. There’s certainly a few about, I managed 11 just off the front garden, furthest 144 yards, closest 71, I shot one that the mixy had got a grip of, hopefully this isn’t the shape of things to come ?
