This year the seasons have been a mess, snow in May, no spring then hot and dry, it’s only in the last week that the leaves have started to fall from the trees around the shoot

Feeding again this afternoon and I feel I’m turning into a proper keeper, I’m constantly angry, about things people haven’t done properly and I’m sick of telling people to put dogs on leads, I also keep finding idiots walking through my drives instead of sticking to the public rights of way, why is it when you tell them they can’t be where they are they look at me like I’m the dickhead Anyway the birds are looking ok, the ones I could find that the dog walkers hadn’t terrorised, they are using every feed area throughout the shoot and with 4 weeks to go this is what I’d expect at this tim

You might as well stay in the house and shoot your self instead of watching that depressing sh*t ?
-
Well, I’m in a right state, but like an injured animal I show no weakness in case some young predator takes advantage of me ?
-
My lot have eaten every berry and seed in sight and are now doing half a tonne of wheat every 10 days, it’s almost time to get them spread out through the drives and cut back on the feeding around the pens

Back to feed this afternoon after another member did Sunday, he decided to have a family day out up there ( basically bothering birds instead of just feeding and leaving them to it ?) with the young lad and the missus, I’d given him a long winded text on where to feed, when I got there 90% of the feeders were empty and there wasn’t a scrap of wheat in any of the feed areas, so after feeding and the birds following me about because they were that hungry I thought I’m going to have to ring him to find out what he’s done. He said, he’d used 2 bags of wheat at each pen ( I use 5 at each pen every

They are a massive draw to the birds on our shoot, lucky they are smack in the middle of one of the drives ?

A long time ago I was on a grouse moor and a group of guns ( I think they were Arabs but don’t quote me on that ) had booked a day but didn’t start until lunch time because they were shooting the morning in Scotland then travelling down by helicopter, when they arrived they had new Range Rovers waiting for them ( I think this was the early 90’s ) they were driven to their butts by their loaders, after they had finished their day one of the loaders told me he had been tipped 500 quid and one of them gave the head keeper one of the Range Rovers as a tip,, it’s nothing like that at my spot with

Over the past couple of months when I’ve been driving down the A19 towards Northallerton there’s one big shoot that’s a couple of miles along the bottom of the moor and it’s not been unusual to see 1000 birds in the fields just of the A19, they have just started dogging them off the fields, that’s not my idea of good game shooting, but I know some people who only do this and pay big money for it

I’m not a million miles from you si as you know and the birds look the same right across the moor, there’s only the big shoots that put the birds down in the end of June / beginning of July that are looking anywhere near proper pheasants at the minute I’ve just been talking to the shoot captain and I said to him that if we are to shoot the first day in November then I’ll have to try to make another couple of drives ( he knew what I meant, next doors partridge and a few pheasants that are further on than ours ??) he just said, do what you have to do and see what you can make of it

I’ve just been speaking to another part time keeper ( bit like myself) who runs a small syndicate and he was saying that it looks like he will be cancelling their first day, he’s the second person to tell me this over the past few days, with the weather up this way the way it is the birds haven’t tailed up yet and the local farm shoots are having a real problem with the birds wandering, around this way we never start shooting until the end of October/ beginning of November, I’ve never known it like this, at worst it’s normally just very wet by now

New one for me, very nice ?

Trouble is, the media ( especially the BBC) give him a platform to spout his bullsh*t and because they don’t allow a counter argument from the other side, the uneducated lap it up, it’s never reported that sabs have smashed up game pen or traps or attacked members of the public because they believed they were involved in something they were against, yet some of these people are involved in organisations that packham is part of, there’s no evidence as to who did this, yet the media is happy for him to cast aspersions, it saddens me that the majority of people have lost any understanding of the

Chris Packham: Fire attack on New Forest home 'will not sway me' Chris Packham: Fire attack on New Forest home 'will not sway me' WWW.BBC.CO.UK The broadcaster vows to continue campaigning after a suspected arson attack outside his home. people need to stop doing this sh*t to this prick, all they are doing is giving him ammunition to use against the hunting and shooting community, he has no idea who did it but will point the finger at shooters/hunters/dog lads, anyone who doesn’t agree with his mental ideas and the bbc will give him a platf

How did your first day go ?
-
Oh yes, you’ll never meet a rich live stock farmer, maybe the big chicken lads, but who wants to smell like chicken sh*t

I’ve just been to the farm to bag some wheat up, when I’d finished I pulled into the yard from the back shed where the farmer was stood talking to another farmer, not unusual you might think ? the other farmer had just got out of a brand new Lamborghini Urus, about 180k worth of car, in a ripped shirt and a pair of wellies and who said there’s no money in farming, I suppose it’s better than giving it to the tax man ?

I use goats milk soap, it’s a really good moisturiser ?

That sound more like psoriasis than eczema, I suffer from it on my hands and feet, it’s an immune system problem, sometimes it will just come on, but normally when something affects my immune system, for example when I had the vaccine my psoriasis went mental to the point it was all over my body, if she’s just had a baby this will of affected her immune system and could of triggered it off, there’s no cure for it, just management, she’d be best off going to the doctors for a steroid cream, something like Betnovate, everything you buy in the chemist is just a moisturiser

I’ve got a t3x in .223 ( not varmint barrel) and it shoots 55gn good enough for me, it comes down barrel twist, try a couple of different rounds, my mate has a tikka varmint barrel and that likes 53gn

I was saying to the shoot captain today that unless we get some cold weather I’d happily cancel our first day ( 1st Saturday in November) and shoot every Saturday in January to get the days in, he said he’d leave it up to me, so we’ll see what the next 4 weeks bring

Good luck for your first day, you’ll all be in short sleeve, it will be like shooting pheasants on a summers day ?
-
They are the crates that paving comes in, turned upside down and the bottoms cut out of them, we used to give them away or burn them at the farm until I worked out that a feeder would fit inside, you know you would find a sheep stuck in one ?

No wonder my birds are taking so long to feather up, I was up feeding and at 5:30 this afternoon and it was 19 degrees, it’s October for gods sake, I need some cold weather, I’m going to need to start shooting some soon just to stop them eating so much feed ? also the bloody fallow have started bashing up the feeders, good job I learned that lesson a few seasons ago and started putting them in crates to stop them rolling them about ?
