I’ve give up and done it for them, it’s amazing how quick they all disappear when you say do you want me to do it, it will cost you a day and a half and I mix the concrete as well

Why have I just had to explain how to form concrete steps to 2 joiners and a builder, Jesus, this is going to be a long day ?

Up at my mates for an hour tonight to clear a few more off the freshly drilled game cover, winged and fur, took a couple of hoppers down to where I seen the fox the other night, gave it 40 minutes or so but didn’t see anything, I can’t wait until all this wheat is down, over the summer I just spend my time wishing my life away, dreaming of stubble fields

I’m drooling looking at that, just what you want on a sunny evening ?
-
Here, your just rubbing my nose in it now, with your daytime foxes ??

My favourite today, stinky drains and septic tanks ?

Luckily it’s started to rain and we have rapped in, I’ve only volunteered myself for one small job ( free of charge ) and haven’t threatened anyone, the missus is very proud of me ?

Back up on the moor tonight for a couple of hours, I took the.17 for my mate and the .22 for me, we decided that we wouldn’t shoot anything really small and between 70 and 120 yards for the .22 and anything over 120 he’d have a go at with the .17, there was a few misses but both of us pulled off some cracking shots, we managed 41, so that’s well over 200 for 3 visits, not bad at all ? also seen the first curlew chicks and actually seen a cuckoo instead of just hearing them

260 miles is a little to far for me

The queen said I could have a couple of days off, the missus said I had to put a new back fence up

Well I never got my buck, only seen one doe, I suppose it was a little early not tending to see much emerging from the wood before last light, as I walked the bottom gutter towards the wood I glimpsed a flash of ginger along the bottom of the field, it was a fox no more than 40 yards walking towards me, as I seen it, it seen me, turned tail and ran, not even giving me enough time to mount the rifle Now I know different shooters like different types of shooting, but the ultimate over all other shooting for me is daylight fox shooting, especially on a warm bright evening, I love it and can s

A lovely early evening so having a bit of time on my hands I thought I’d have a look for a buck for an hour or so, there’s loads of young hares about. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the queen for giving me the time to get out for a look about, cheers Liz ? wish me luck ?

There’s nothing cheap at the place that supplies there ammo, I was in there last week and he was trying to sell me some food grade tin ammo for the .243 at 64 quid for 20 ?
-
I’m no David Bailey and at 2 in the morning, still having to unzip a few so Longshanx’s mate can feed his dogs I couldn’t be arsed lining them out, I’d of liked to take a picture of everything but once there’s 10-15 in the game bag it’s backbreaking walking back and forwards to the motor

Almost, there was a few times when you were just about to take a shot and a big turkey head would fill the scope ?
-
To be honest I didn’t notice any difference with them ( apart from the price on the box, £97 for 200 ?) we had Winchester HV’s and Hornady and they all grouped pretty similar, we used a lot more of the A17’s just because he doesn’t pay for them, the estate does

Back up on the moor tonight for another go at the rabbits, first off a stop off at the under keepers house for a cup of tea and a catch up as I haven’t seen him since he was up for a day on the pheasants with us in the winter, after and hours chat and a go at a couple of his targets, we headed out, there wasn’t much about until it got dark, then they came out, we stayed in the fields we were in last Sunday to get on top of this area first, we shot 76 this time, the picture is of the 30 or so we took away, looking across the valley with the thermal I counted 68 in one field, so we’ll have to ha
