  1. Thought I’d give it an hour laid in the field with the sheeps, hopefully something shows, if not it’s a nice evening listening to the birds ?
  2. No, I could of said the 4 lads off here are spot on ?? but that would be a lie ?
  3. Oh yes, I’m a growing lad ?
  4. I enjoy the keepering once the birds go in up until we start shooting, then I worry are the birds going to be in the drives where I said they will be, will they fly and will the guns have a good day ? I also run the beaters on the day and I like to strut about shouting ?
  5. I think there’s a bit of knobhead in all of us ? I will say the 3 lads I’ve met off here are spot on I think shooting should be for everyone, it winds me up when people won’t help others out, it can be a foot in the door with a bit of rifle shooting or a days pheasant shooting somewhere people wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to shoot, there’s too many people involved with shooting that are like “ THIS IS MINE, ALL MINE” and are paranoid that someone will go behind their back, most people just really appreciate the help, I’ll give anyone one chance, you can normally tell what they ar
  6. Road planings turned up today, so tracks down and rolled, I can’t work these people out, he’s wanting a horse arena putting in at a cost of about 35k but he’s had me take old post and rail fencing down and reusing it
  7. It’s what it’s all about, I’ve met a lot of good people through been able to take them shooting ( and some knobheads )and some of them have become good mates, if you come as my guest it won’t cost you anything because I’m in a position to let people shoot in my place, I’ve been to cracking places shooting with people returning the favour, I would of thought the fees will have to go up next season but at the minute it looks like there’s enough money in the kitty to cover this year, even if it went to 80/90 a day you still can’t buy shooting where we are for that money ?
  8. It’s not about the money for me, it’s about all the other shooting opportunities I get from keepering this one, I get to invite people that otherwise wouldn’t get to shoot somewhere like this, I wouldn’t thank you for a day shooting pigeons it just doesn’t interest me, each to their own, at least these that only go out shooting pheasants are not trying to get the shooting I like, we are lucky with our syndicate in that there’s only one knobhead the rest are a really good bunch of lads and lasses
  9. I get why people like it because if you get a good group of people it’s a really good day out, I don’t shoot at my place but wouldn’t miss a day there, at the minute our members pay £65 a day, I don’t know of any other shoot/syndicate that is that cheap, I’ve already been offered £400 for someone to come and shoot as a guest
  10. Now I know that this will be of little interest to most of you as driven pheasants are not your thing, mine neither but I am an unintentional gamekeeper and the numbers I’ve just been told are mental and has put the shooting of flying chickens well out of reach for the common man that likes to buy a day or two, the estate out the back of my syndicate put a price of £100 a bird this year up from £65 last year, they are now doing a 100 bird day for £10,000, the bloke I was talking to said he had booked a day in late November on a big shoot for £4500, Jesus, theses are bloody pheasants, on the es
  11. Chicken and mushroom pie from yesterday leftover chicken winner, white wine/cream sauce, new spuds, bit of veg ?
  12. I don’t mind the farm and horsey stuff but domestic turns my stomach, sometimes I need to go full PPE or get someone else to do it is a better option?, I’ve got a treatment plant to go in next week and the only manky bit is the connection to the property, hopefully it’s not all backed up ?
  13. Got nothing done that I intended to today, but did manage to sort the drainage out in the yard, lovely job seen as this place was a beef farm for the last 70 odd years ??
  14. Pay is performance based and a lot less than me, I think I’ll be ok with the shooting lesson, I’ve shot one or two rifles in my time, you don’t own a PlayStation do you ??
  15. I’m done with the PlayStation generation now, they haven’t got a good days graft in them, I’ve never had one last more than 2 days, I can’t even get young lads to come out shooting with me now because they can’t handle the walking, sad times
  16. Road planings still haven’t turned up, got everything levelled and seeded and now a bit of fencing digging post holes through 10” of concrete and a load of rubble, lucky me, I wish I could find a young’un that didn’t look like they were going to die after a days work
  17. Cheers for the replies, I went for the Harris 9-13 swivel ?
  18. Missus got her way last night, sausage, mash and beans. Ffs it’s like feeding a kid I got my way tonight, Italian spicy courgette stew, loads of Parmesan and garlic bread ?
  19. No H/S here mate all farms and private land, they’d have a fit if they seen how we put fence posts in with the digger ?
  20. Got a bit done, 100 tonne of road planings coming tomorrow for the tracks, I might even get a bit of grass seed down
  21. This is going to be a massive job, ex beef farm, now owned by the horsey elite, stables, horse walker, horse arena, not a bad place to spend the summer
  22. I’ve always found the triggers on tikka’s to be fine, saying that I’m not a very refined human, the worst one I’ve ever shot was a Ruger
  23. All the winged vermin is having a right old time of it up at the shoot
