    Just an old bulldog that came from Florida.A lot of catchdogs don't have a pedigree. He lived to be old which is rare for a catchdog.

    Thanks Mr Jetro His name was popeye.I had him catching hogs at 6 months old.I was young and dumb but he overcame that.I learned alot since then.

    I have posted these before but will again.These was from teenage years.they are pictures of a picture.nothing special but shows a few of the type used in Alabama and in Florida, Georgia Pictures was usually taken when someone new came out.Sadly I have no pictures of some of the best dogs I owned.This was before cell phone cameras. I don't think any of these hogs weighed over 100 lbs.

    Any good baydog will catch as soon as catchdog catches.You should know that ? Plott men don't use catchdogs at all 3 or 4 good plotts will stretch any hog but most will die. It has nothing to do with size.Its a mentality.Give no quarter.Ive seen 30 lb catchdogs hit a wild 250lb boar so hard it broke the hogs jaw and the bitch lost a few teeth. Most real hog hunters in Dixie would rather have 1 specialized bay dog and 1 specialized catchdog.Thats all that's usually a young baydog that's along for the ride.     I watched the above videos.They are hogs in a pin who have their spirits broke.These type are generally fat also.They have no fight left in them because dumb rednecks put catchdogs on them every Saturday so hog gives up.When I hunted with ALAN SCOTT somebody was stocking a place with half tame half wild hogs.My baydogs could catch them.They were easy yet ALAN still didn't bring an AB. One catchdog is all you need.End of If a catchdog ever barks once released I personally would cull him. Keep the dogs you want. Believe what you want. I done lived what you are watching.

    We've had rain and all my good spots are muddy water.So I went exploring to a new creek I've never fished.This area doesn't have many cottonmouths so that was a plus. These are rock bass I caught 6 or 7 Small mouth bass This was a treat for me as there's not many here.They are one of the hardest fighting fish I've ever seen. This last picture was my favorite one of the day.I didn't catch any sunperch but caught a fish called a pumpkinseed.

    Smaller hogs aren't a problem.Bigger hogs can kick and cut you.Its not much danger from hooves on dogs but will cut your hand if a big hog.I took a kick to the chest from a big one and bout lost my nipple? Any wound a man recieves from a hog doesn't seem to heal for a long time.

    I was speaking about the hog sorry Most of the hogs in these videos are 150 or less. The 700 lb hog at end of video is a half tame hog that's why it has floppy ears ? people do these type breeding's to produce those hogs.Sometimes they castrate them.Also you can remove their top teeth and their bottom cutters will continue to grow. As the top teeth called whitters works like a whitrock to keep bottom cutters sharp. Find a video of a single ab catching a WILD boar that's 250+ and holding it alone while a man legs it.Im sure there must be one. When you leg a 250lb boar hog it

    Hard biting bulldog will make a 150lb boar sit down and squeel.Good catchdogs learn to catch an ear and getup parallel with hog to minimize harm. When you catch a 250 lb boar he's not gonna squeel.Ive seen jags thrown 15 feet in air.Ive seen a wild hog jump a 4 foot fence like a deer.They are not clumsy. Big hogs are not fun to catch despite what you might think.Only a few dogs survive and they need vet attention.Its a gruesome scene that no man in his right mind would photograph. My father used to tell the greenhorns to kiss their hog dogs before release and say goodbye

    I know exactly where Alan lives?.I was at his house last year when he gifted me an undershot male pat which didn't make it.Known him around 20 years. One of the best catchdogs I seen weighed 30 lbs.She wasn't from game lines just a bulldog.The biggest hog I personally caught was with a half gamebred half showbred 40lb bitch.She received 110 stitches inside her mouth and around jaw from hog damage as she was trying to catch on ear.Once she caught it was over even with the damage.     Alan Scott lives 2 counties away.I can't tell you nothing about how they hog hunt in Australia France or Germany.In Alabama they don't use AB over all.In Mississippi they don't use em nor Tennessee nor Florida or Georgia Most hog hunters used to have a training pen from 1-300 acres.Its easy to film and find a hog and Catch a hog who's spirits have been broken.I know their dirty tricks I was raised around these type dog pimps.Ab is probably the first of the modern bandogs.Good guard dogs nothing more nothing less.     Hog Hunting in Dixie is done different than pushing to guns.Generally there isn't a gun maybe a pistol sometimes.A man or two, a baydog and a catchdog apbt kept on leash.Ab isn't used here.By the way I hunted with A.Scott and I was asked to bring a catchdog.Some of his buddies had dogos and I didn't like them either.20 years ago Alan kept around 100 dogs.i didn't see any of his baydogs or catchdogs I liked.I think he still alive but had heart attack last year.i sold my last blackmouth to a friend of alans as they needed a grittier dog?     Small bass from creek are best to eat in my opinion.I don't eat anything from our rivers.I don't eat catfish as they eat things that would gag a maggot . As you can see that sunperch was trying to swallow a worm as long as him. They will get up to 1 to 1 1/2 pounds.They are very aggressive.Im loading up now to go get em?

    We have snakes that get much longer than cottonmouths.A grown cottonmouth will be close to 3 foot.Its the poison and cottonmouths attitude that makes them dangerous.

    I hit him with paddle but didn't do nothing but make him mad ? Scary part was I had to come back by him to get to truck.I left him alone on the way back as it's not fun fighting with them from a kayak. I ain't scared of snakes but cottonmouths are the devil in disguise. When I spotted this skin I knew it would be close.Because of this detail I was able to have the upper hand.Im not scared of snakes I can see.Its the ones you can't see that scares me ?

    I hit a local creek today for a couple hours and caught several took a few pics. Using light tackle these are quite the fight and the cottonmouths keep you alert. Gonna play hooky from work tomorrow and go all day .Need a break from this crazy world. THE above fish is called a red-eye bass or coosa bass.They are only native to a few creeks in Alabama and Georgia. The others are largemouth and a sunperch.

    Speaking as a boy who grew up in Alabama I hope your wrong.American bulldogs are nothing impressive from a hog hunting stand point.They can be good guard dogs.But I grew up hog hunting with some of the founders of American bulldog.They are not a true catchdog.As a true catchdog in Dixie will sieze an ear and will not release until dead or dog is removed by a breakstick.A dog of this type is needed to protect his owner.American bulldogs don't do that on big boar hog.Ive seen jagdterriers of my dad's with twice the grit of American bulldog.Seen some black mouth curs with more grit than ab This i

    These are my greatgrandparents mule traces for working a plow. hand made.My grandfather used them as a young man.One of my prize possessions hanging in my barn. Sorry for bad pic.Only one I had. If it wasn't for mules who could plow all day and live on briars The south would have starved to death. Cheers to the donkey for producing what we needed

    I'd say your right. There was a large donkey next door to me as a kid he ran down and killed 2 of my jack Russell's.I came home one day and he was tossing a full grown potbellied pig in the air and catch it.After the old donkey died a fox moved in.Could be coincidence but doubt it.Donkeys actually seem to enjoy a good scrap.

    Here in Dixie donkeys are kept in fields with goats or sheep.They will instinctively rundown and kill coyotes.Thinking back that's the only time they seemed happy?
