  1. Probably a Sako 85, the gun will shoot and perform as well or better than I ever could. for large game ie UK deer, wild boar, African game, American bear etc Choosing one calibe ONLY to deal with this lot would have to be .338 Win Magnum! Not too big for UK Deer and Wild Boar but big enough for the rest. Cheers Deker
  2. Hi John Good quality scopes will hold their zero at all ranges, sometimes, on very cheap scopes you find a bit of zero movement on different magnifications. Close range shots will tend to go clean through a crow, but as the pellet is going faster at close range, the shock wave during penetration will cause more internal damage. Death should be swift as long as you hit the appropriate areas, head or chest are probably favourite. Cheers Deker
  3. I'm a little confused, as far as I can see this is bolting the stable door after the horse has gone...the latest legislation came in on 1 October...what is being debated now. I know there has been talk of airgun grief in Scotland for some time but is that still ongoing, and what has the Scottish parliament got to say about it?
  4. snap shot that is good advice and appreciated but would you personally want to shoot at those ranges if you could be squeaking foxes up to 100-130 yds ?then its job done with some in reserve for your more lamp shy buggers I think we are all talking in similar terms here and we all love to bag the very long shots BUT.......shooting is all about taking every advantage you can, the best rifle, the best scope, the best ammo, as much practice a possible, the best support you can get for the shot, and taking the easy shots. Anyone who shoots fox will tell you it is far better to call the
  5. I have a very good idea what has led to this and I've a fair idea where its going! What is an average???? Dogga....sod the average, it doesn't matter if you take them long or short...you take them at the distance you are happy/confident with, and that IS the right distance. Trust me, if someone is telling you 250yards is the Average and 350yards is Normal that is Bullshit. These shots happen but if someone drops a fox at 350 yards it is not normal, they would be jumping up and down all round the pub telling everyone! Whilst these shots and longer do happen, if anyone drops a fox

You don't seriously think you're going to get electrocuted from a 12v battery, do you Deker? How come there's no fuse in a torch? it's a free world and you do and think what you want ....... read it again, I did not say your Logan lamp is going to kill you, which I suspect is what you are implying!!! Put your hand on an electric fence when you are out next...most run off 12v. Next time you get a sparky round ask him to explain about conductivity and the difference between volts and amps, and ask him if 12v can kill you! Whilst you are at it ask him why the Police Taser gun

  9. i did a fishery a couple seasons back for a friend of mine they had rats were coming from surrounding fields around the holding areas where thefish were kept there were good runs leading to the location , so i just snared them with the hazel benders , until all the runs went dead , caught quite a good lot , it seemed to do the trick, but all locations are not the same , like snareman say's try snaring them with benders, once you master the art you will be more hooked on that than the fishing, you will find all the info at the top of the page in the pinned secton. 10. Fac Air rifles seldom if ever come with a moderator, BUT if you do not have a moderator down on your FAC for your air rifle you CANNOT fit one. You will need to get a variation (free). If you have been given a slot for a FAC air rifle with no conditions you can get one of any power you want. On the FAC air rifle side of things Theoben rule the roost but loads of manufacturers do them. Falcon can FAC your light hunter up to about 30ft lb, but as the resevour is quite small you will not get many shots. Deker
  11. Flippin 'ek, ALL during the day and 28 out of the same place, what on "earth" have you got round there/where do they all keep coming from?! I haven't seem any during the day for a good couple of months...always at dusk or through the night now! I think 3 is the most I have had from one site this year. Cheers Deker
  12. Good on you..do you see many out during the day, they are all keping there heads down round me at the moment. Really thick, close fur these days as well I suspect, looks that way. Cheers Deker
  13. hey up deker i think that the forum where you have to have a special (paid for) email account is the airgun forum, you don;t need anything special to join the airgun bbs fora john Whoops!!!! have I got mixed up...appologies if I have it wrong...I'll go and have a look! OK, don't seem to have a problem now but looking at it I'm sure this was the forum that would not accept a Hotmail address from me before....Airgun BBS that is!!!.
  14. It's normally the way with this sort of thing...everyone thinks it's a great idea, everyone will join...but then it all goes quiet. I wish you every success and really hope you can get this off the ground. I'm over 400 miles away so will not be joining, but if I'm ever up your way I'd love to pop in and hopefully find a thriving club. All the best! Deker

You guys crease me up...it's a free world and you do and think what you want............. but the primary objective of any fuse is people protection, and secondary objective is equipment protection. In this case it is there to protect you and all of the circuit...Not just the battery! Some of the comments posted here in relation to your respect of electricity would leave me with serious concerns about your long term health. But I do agree with your overall assessment of the Logan Lamp Cheers Deker
  16. Getting permission is seldom easy...we all think we are careful, courteous, considerate, helpful etc, etc and many probably are but strip it down to it's basics and think about it. You knock on a door and before the owner stands a total stranger who says I'm brilliant with a gun can I come and shoot in your garden please? What would your reaction be???? keep at it, put yourself around, don't let the knockbacks get you down and with a bit of luck it will happen. Good luck. Deker.

walksatnight AIRGUNNER trapper25 Opal Stork has seen this picture before...it from about 4 or 5 weeks ago.......and ...yes this is ALL my own work. To try and answer some of your questions Day 1 -- 52 Day 2 -- 27 Day 3 -- 53 Day 4 -- 26 Day 5 -- 13 This picture was taken after day 3 and does not show all those shot as the staff at the place and my game dealer had already taken some of the squirrels. They have all come from a country park, or to be accurate, only around 25 acres of the park, I'm working my way around it. It's owned by the cou

  19. Brilliant... there is always a feeling of satisfaction when it comes together. I took a very ordinary one last Thursday.... but that coat is really thick now. My Foxcaller just arrived from Vermin Dropper (first one I've ever had). I was out last night pretending for all my worth that I was a poorly rabbit waiting to be eaten but not a sniff. There are definately at least 2 more around this land so I'll keep trying. Cheers Deker
  20. Whoever said it... 50yards----68yards........Springer?.....Bipod?????? I can't deny I would like to see that video too. We can all make big shots sometimes, but SOMETIMES is the important bit. Shots like this, with these tools, should not to be considered under any normal hunting circumstances. Another very important thing to remember is IN THE FIELD!!!! We can all measure 50 yards on a range..take 20 shots to zero and then, with a bit of luck, fire a couple in the right place...how often do you get the chance to do that in the field against live quarry. Please do not say lu
  21. OK everyone, much appreciate the input. On the whole it seems the prices I get are fair to good. If we exclude the OVEN READY prices...... Deer does seem to be very similar price around the country. Pheasant have an amazing spread from 20-40p brace, to £1 EACH Rabbit 25p to £1 each. FOX £15-£25...hey...it's a dog...what do I know...dogs get eaten in some parts of the world! (BUT I am curious about this one) I suspect we are talking supply and demand, Berkshire is getting more and more game/farm shops, so the bunny etc is in quite strong demand. What we have li

  23. I suspect the word OPEN is what you are looking for. I'm sure you are also aware it does not mean you can use any rifle on any land, it means you can use appropriate rifles on appropriate land. Just means that you get to make that judgement rather than "the chief officer of police." Cheers Deker
