  1. How much Sealyham are in your pups themole? Pup on right looks nice.
  2. Nice dog,are they clippers and dog hair on the floor? If so so why clip it?.
  3. I would say so but nothing is chew proof from a determined dog,the first lot of theses type of beds I had lasted 10 yrs of Labrador & spaniel abuse,no doubt a pitbull can out chew gundogs but a gundog will test dog beds more in all other respects I would say, working gundogs that are out picking up all day are blathered and wet through on there return home, they scratch the beds a lot too.the tuffie dog beds I have now are better quality than my first lot so I am expecting a good few years service out of these beds. Google tuffie dog beds it’s in Scotland they have a good website that will a
  4. Tuffie dog beds not cheap but last for years I wouldn’t go back to old blankets carpets etc, there are easy to clean and dry very quickly, when dogs have been out all day in wet weather these are ideal as they are waterproof.
  5. I forgot to say the lad with the bedlington on vic granger print also had a fell terrier bred by John parks which was a horrible little b*****d it would kill frogs eat spiders hunt & kill anything,it was a pain in the arse with other dogs but as a beating dog it was very good,it caught hares, rabbits, pheasants most shoot days,it once caught a fox in my mates garden both locked on to each other, the bedlington joined in but not with the same vigour, the fell was a great hunting dog but my mate much preferred the bedlington.
  6. George has used Margaret’s dogs in the past, I’ve used a gutchcommon dog on one of my rillington bred dogs,There were only 2 dog pups which went to lads I know locally, one showed little interest in hunting the other showed more interest but wasn’t as keen as my Rillington bred dogs,he had a decent coat & was a nice workmanlike shape,he’s the dog on the vic Granger prints you could buy 15-20 years ago.george didn’t go down the outcross route just for the sake of an outcross, he ran out of suitable dogs to breed from.the only thing you loose with a well thought out outcross is your KC papers
  7. You can’t knock a man for trying, Some men do there own thing they don’t follow the latest trend in dogs or men with big mouths and egos to match.
  8. It was because he had exhausted his own blood lines and he couldn’t find another bedlington strain that he liked , it was not because they weren’t game enough far from it he just needed new blood. He first went to KC Lakeland’s which we’re almost as difficult to get the right type dog as bedlingtons, I’ve seen some of George’s Lakeland crosses which good workers but I wouldn’t say digging dogs, he then went to border blood, I’ve owned a bedlington with 1/16 border who was a good worker but not a digging dog.
  9. For what reason do you think George Newcombe (rillington prefix) went for an outcross and not a pure bedlington?.
  10. Yes all clear foxdropper,it’s tricky to know if someone is a phoney or not on a forum and unless you meet them in person you will never know,I’ve not been on this forum long And for me the biggest thing that spoils it is the falling out which is kicked off with silly b*****ds making outlandish claims fallowed up by all the name calling, it’s hard to ignore silly claims but it’s also silly to carry it on page after page after page.lets not forget we’re all on the same side.atb
  11. At the beginning of this thread you were calling Bedlingtons f***ing poodles now suddenly you have 2 mates With bedlington digging dogs, why not mention this at the beginning of the thread? And as for you try a bit too hard for recognition aimed at mort well the same could be said for you.
  12. Ted my Sealyham x Russell, he’s between 6-7 months, very pleased with his progress so far.
  13. I can not get over the depth of knowledge on this thread about bedlingtons by folks who don’t own one and not likely to.it certainly makes me think could I believe anything they write.
  14. I’ve always starved dogs with the shits for a day or two depending on how bad it is,once the shits have eased I give them boiled rice with a small amount of there regular meal mixed in, Lidl & Aldi fo 2 min rice packets 50-60p saves boiling rice.
  15. Topper do you only use your bedlingtons for foxes no bushing for rabbits etc? If so how many foxes do you work on average each season?.when I had 6000 acres to go at the most foxes I had to ground was around a dozen and most of them bolted.
  16. Your right all sorts stick to there costs but it never stopped mine going in any cover but it’s still a big fault,a coat like a border would be better, wet weather I would say affects the bedlingtons coat the most but it doesn’t seem to bother them but it’s less than ideal. Clipping the bedlingtons coat or any breed for that matter makes things even worse as clipping makes the coat grow out away from the body letting the weather get to the skin, coats should grow along the body trapping heat in and weather out.
  17. I agree that they were never a digging dogs but the good ones have good strong heads & narrow shoulders , regards plenty of jacket to keep them warm lol which book are you reading cos there telling lies, bedlingtons have a piss poor coat I would say it’s there biggest fault.
  18. A spaniel that’s trained to drop to flush would make sure your whippets just did the coursing but if it’s a terrier you want then go for a type that’s bright, not overly aggressive, and something that you like the look of.
  19. What’s that harness the dogs wearing for?.
  20. That sounds a really nice all round lurcher, obedience winner as well well done.
  21. I was very sceptical of bone men until a lab of mine went lame on his right front leg aged around 12 months, had him to the vets X-ray etc and no joy, mate said go see ken Woodacre so I did, ken gave him the once over pulling him in all shapes & directions,he said he’s crick his neck said he be ok 8-10 days and he was, I just thought it was a coincidence, 6 months later limping again on Other front leg, back to ken who said it was neck again, ken said he will be ok in three day and he was I couldn’t believe it,I’ve used him since another half dozen times, I am convert he certainly had a talen
  22. I will check next time I am in, it’s called autarky summer months RRP is over £20,I don’t buy it cos one of the main ingredients is maze.
  23. They sell autarky at Costco,I think it’s called summer months, last time I looked it was under £15 .
  24. If dogs or people for that matter have a balanced diet there’s no need to give supplements it’s all abit of a con,Your better off giving oily fish, eggs to supplement there diet.
