It was rats on permission P&G,...We didnt want Royston to loose his hard won permission,...dont worry, Kanes dog half cocked when it got a big rat...stood there looking at the rat, as if to say "What the f**k!?"..lol. We even got a few nests of rats, and they where humanly dispatched, along with the adults...nice... Kane cryed all the way home, and i bet he didnt get a wink of sleep after dispatching them young rats!.. Kye,..

I beleave there was a hare coursing bitch named (or nick-named) "Half-Tail"...apparently a very good coursing bitch, but thats only what i have heard, i never seen it run.. My old dog has only half a tail now, and although in retirement with my mum, it dont stop the old man tipping gear over... I wouldnt worry to much...might even make the dog look less "Lurchery"...always a bonus in todays climate!.. Good luck with the dog mate, keep us posted!.. Kye,..

I had a dog from Hancock.. I never had any problems with the dog...UNTIL i realy tested him,...and i mean pushed HARD!... Thats when he started to yip...never on rabbits, but on deer and fox...he was NO way a fox dog, but he did kill about 20+...he was a good deer dog if i only let him take about five or six a week...towards the end he would yip at them all the time, but he broke his front left wrist, and never got over it...he lives with me mum know.. He done me well, and he was a great ferreting dog (what i used him for mostly) and he was also the best biggish sized Lurcher i have seen

lol @ FR,... We will see what that young Choc dog is like this fall/winter mate...like you said, plenty of work coming up, for the Stags, terriers and US!..LOL. Cant wait mate!.. Kye,..

We was Ratting!...Kanes dog is a great ratter,...the farmer wanted the rats gone, and Kanes dog killed a HUGE amount...is that ok?.. Kye,..

Got back from my visit home in the UK yesterday...trip started well, and met a few new faces, and had a good craic, the last 48 hours was a f*****g nightmare though... Got the puppy from Taffy (thanks for the drinks Taff) and went back to Roystons,...i was supposed to be getting a pup brought back over for a mate and myself, a terrier of sorts, but not an earth dog as such...it wasnt to be, as the poor little blighter passed away,...but that is dogs, and it couldnt be helped!...me and my mate are gutted about it, but there will be other oppertunitys, so all is not lost...the pup was bred

Creatine!!!...man i hate that stuff!...100% all natural whey, thats the gear you want Stabs!...should help in your Ale-Curls!..lol. Kye,.. PS...i didnt know thatabout rabbit meat though?,...i thought fish (like Tuna and Salom etc) where the highest in protein?...i would think rabbit was quite low on the scale...having said that, Turkey is a great sourse of protein...i will always be a stickler for a good 38oz steak though...not even rare, just blue...slap it on the arse, and chuck it on a plate!..

f**k me, if i was THAT ugly the dogs would have terrible re-call!..lol...plus i dont wear gay T-Shirts!... Man, how small is Blister there!?...who would have thought he would turn out just under 30"... That Lizard was fast, but it couldnt out pace your rock throwing skills!... Kye,..
-
lol@ FD!.. Yeah, them desert lizards can be tough critters...always chase them to ground!..lol...i can always find summat to hunt!.. Kye,..

When my Lakeland was 12 weeks old, she marked a rat in some compact old cow and chicken shit...the entrance to the hole was about 12 feet away...she was digging at the muck, and i helped her out...we got down about 10" and there was three rats in a stop end...she killed all of them...she has a good nose imo...the best noses i have seen (rat dog wise) have been Plummers...great nose on them dogs!.. My wife has some old type russells and they have much better than average noses...they will find lizards in the summer, on plain solid rock, in 115F...there 'aint much scent in them condistions!,..
-
Ive started pups as soon as they are jabbed up...on the other end of the scale i have started dogs as old as 10 months...my own Lakeland was killing them real young, and is the best rat dog i have ever had...but her sister didnt fancy a look at it until much later, and she is more than likely a much better ratting dog than mine...i would wait until you think they are ready, then give them another month to make sure!..lol...why ruin a young dog on summat as silly as a few months?...be patient, and only good things will come!....good luck mate!. Kye..

Can anyone reach that twat that goes buy the name Royston2!?..lol. If they can (does he have any mates?? ) can you get hold of him and tell him to contact me ASAP!..its quite important!...if any friends of his could PM me (my PM seems to not be letting me SEND them, but i can GET them!?) i will try and get my work number to him through you guys!...either that or tell him that he needs to fecking call me!...cheers lads.. I think he had a boy friend call "Ratkilla" or summta like that at one point!.. Kye..

I dont know a lot about Wovles, but Coyotes (which can breed with both wolves and dogs) they eat the guts, and veggie/greens inside of prey animals...at least the kills we have found have been!.. Also when we have hunted elk, and gutted them, we have hunted Coyotes of the pile of guts etc...we have found that coyotes love eating the soft entrails and such...i know there not Wolves, as in Timber Wolves etc, but Coyotes are realy just a smaller type of Wolf. simple as that.. Kye,..

The luck i have had with terrier mate, the LAST thing i want to do is put them to a coyote!..lol..i wouldnt risk a good earth dog that would give me years of hunting, and hundreds of Raccoons, Ground Hogs and Fox... The chance of me having to shift coyote pups is fairly small, but it could well happen and its always nice to help a person out...i probably wont breed the cross anyway, but if i do, i would only breed to keep one for myself,...so the terrier gene pool wouldnt suffer through such monsters!..lol...just thinking out aloud more than anything mate. Kye,..
-
lol..i would fully agree with NORMAL quarry Potter...but if a farmer is asking you to dig out a den of coyotes, and mamma's home, and she is 22"-23" at the shoulder and weighs in at 35-45lbs, would you want to put your best digging terrier in there, or a dog that is half Bull, and can dish it out a little...taking into account that Coyotes EAT dogs!..lol.. I suppose you could always run the parents with Lurchers, or shoot them, but i would NEVER let pups/cubs starve to death, so imo, they are best dealt within the den... Kye,..

We have had great success with the "Fox-Pro"..its exspensive though..killed bobcat, gray fox, and coyote with it no problems...in heavily called areas as well!.. Kye,..

Hi Hob,.. I live in the desert south west of america, so feeding/keeping flesh here is hard...we only have a small freezer, so we can only feed flesh in the winter/fall...we will be moving to the Mid-west anytime know though, and me and the wife are planning on getting a walk in freezer for the dog food...very exspensive, but my dogs are the world to me. The difference is amazing in the dogs condision...and there performance is realy enhanced buy a good diet (as is the case with humans!).. Ive never worried about bones, and have never had a problem...i have even fed the dogs fish, but not

lol @ Stabs.. No mate, i wouldnt insult the Russell blood with that little black brindle wally!..lol. I was thinking about maybe to the lakeland of mine when she is fully tested...i would just keep the smallest in the litter, and cull the rest...would be useless for most things over here, but would be handy to have a dog like that for denning coyotes...i just want a dog that is able to do it without risking a good earth dog on such a task...just to help landowners when i move...always good if you can help a bloke out...a good way to broaden your hunting grounds!..lol. Cheers for the in

I have had a terrier spew after four seasons work...no idea how old he was, but he was over six, thats for sure...i wouldnt class myself as a terrierman, just a guy that likes digging quarry with terriers...this dog NEVER got a beating, only ever lost one tooth, and was basicly a bayer...i have NEVER worked a dog sore in my life..ever...like i said, im no terrierman, but i do have common sense. He just wouldnt enter one day, and that was that...it was more my Ex's pet than anything, other wise i would have culled him...imo, because of his breeding, he just decided enough was enough, and why
-
Seriously know...has ANYONE ever bred a litter with NO culls...dogs that wouldnt go, or make the grade?...ive never heard of a litter of, say six pups, and ALL where great workers...ive seen plenty where all pups worked, but at totaly different ends of the rainbow...ive seen stone cold killers..mute dogs that wouldnt budge an inch..and its litter bro/sis would be a yappy twat, 12" up the pipe (which imo, isnt proper work).. Kye,..

My brindle dog is VERY hard to spot when he has just coursed a hare in the desert...my white/wheaten colour bitch is MUCH easier to see... I like seeing a white/light coloured dog run on green fields, great when on a hare or other quarry...i cant wait to run that bitch of mine in Kansas...big green paddocks, fen like land...im hoping her light coat will be better to see on film, so we can get some good footage.. Kye..

Thats a nice story, and i for one hope you have many more...i would agree, this IS the best place on the Net for genuine dog people!...it has had its rough patches with wally's and wanna be's, but with people still joining, that are good dog people, this site will be around for a long time i think!.. Long live dog work!.. Kye,..
