Me and FR was talking about raccoons yesterday, and he jokingly said "If you crossed a Fox with a Badger, and added a little Monkey in the mix, you would get a Raccoon"...to be honest, thats just what there like..lol...they will use there IQ, teeth and all four feet/hands to work a dog...to break through to your dog and see him working his quarry, and then the Coon grab the dogs collar so it can pull into him is crazy...i have nothing but the upmost respect for them as a quarry, and they are great fighters...i realy admire them... Cheers lads...yeah, the weather can be bloody cold...its the wind that does it more than anything...our house was built in the 1940's, and its freezing in winter...hope to get some new windows one day. The Stags are good, but the bitch had a terrible season....she broke her tail and have to have it removed, then she got bitten buy a snake, and her foot swelled right up....then she broke her fecking neck!...she is ok now, but she has been outta action most of this season...we will get her out on some game before we call it quits...if the cold weather holds, we should be able to get a few m

Me and FR got out today...great day to be out...we have had lots of snow, and it was past waist deep in some spots, on FR anyway (i was up to me nose!..lol.) We had three dogs out today, Agro my choc dog, Blanc, FR's black bitch, and Lizzie, my wifes Russell....we tried Lizzie first, and after finding no coons in the hay loft, she managed to bolt a cat from a load of round bales...not great but better than nothing!..lol. We then put her away, and collared up Agro and Blanc...this is a fairly new spot we have got, so we decided to have a scrat about, and see what earths we could find.

The Gray fox i have taken with Staghounds have turned and faced the dog, one even turned and lept and hung onto my male Stags muzzle....Grays run much better, and turn much better, and the ones i have taken seemed "ballsier" as well... Kye,..

Hi mate,.. I left England with two bags of clothes, and a terrier...never even been abroad before, never been on a plane...i was shitting myself, i tell thee!...no friends or family over here, nothing. In the long run, it was the best decision of my life, but after i first landed, and had gone through about six months, to say i was home sick was an understatment...theres still not a day go buy that i dont think of 'Home'...plus i wasnt allowed back until my green card was sorted...that was 2 1/2 years!.. When i first got over here i thought nothing of Raccoons...until i saw decent dogs on decent Raccoons!..lol. They are much harder than a fox to kill imo...for all you guys that are old enough to remember Badgers (Prior 197?) they have the body of a badger, with the same fat and hide, they dont 'bite' as such, they tend to want to grab a dog, and then procede to chew bits off of them!...i rate them above the fox as a worthy terrier IF you use the right dog...a coon will happily sit there and be bayed at...its when the dog makes constant contact that you will see what a good Raccoon is made of

Good post mate,...it was a cracking day out!...pity i was feeling a little rough...lol I was glad the little white bitch turned out well that day, but at the same time, im sad i wont get to dig to Tigger again..his work ethic, is never in question, and he has left me with some fond digging memories..a great old dog,...you have gotta hate father time, it seems to come so quickly for a hard working terrier.. ...roll on next season so we can start the young, and remember the old!... I swear to god, i lost two ferrets in the same warren one day..i was out with Royston and a young lad named Nath...stopped all the holes and put the box at one entrance, next day one of the jills was in the box..the other was no where to be seen.. The NEXT season, about one hundred yards from the warren i lost them in, i put in a Hob...i was just bolting them for my old dog to catch, no nets or anything...a few minutes past, and i hear this shuttering and screams, like ferrets do when there getting a bit fruity... ..."Feck me, we got a weasel" is what i thought...the jill i lost came tr

Man, just got in, and im f****d!..lol...me and FR had a great day out, and we got four digs...when he gets time, FR will probably put a post up...plus we was out all last night on the lamp...my male staghound done well, but im hopeing FR will post about that...he is starting to enjoy the Lurchers work, and bugger me he can drive a truck!... :whistle: ..lol. Not had him on any Ground hogs yet,..to be honest, he is just to big, but they will never be my main quarry...i dig them when i can, but Raccoons are my thing now!..lol...the dog will get a chance to work them, but coon are his quarry,...(next on the hit list is the US badger, and maybe even an Otter!... ) ..imo, the best animal you can dig too, you just need to right type of dog to see the best (or worst!..lol.) of them.. :whistle: Hi DW,...hope things are good mate? imo, Coon will be in the UK within the next 15 years or so...they are in Germany, feral, and they are thriving so much t

Ive seen some good little dogs before,..but Roystons little bitch is one of the best...for her size she is full of drive and is just a great dog to be out with...if the pups are HALF the dog she is Royst, they should be mint mate.. Kye,.
