  1. There's the picture. You can see the hole it gnawed to the right of its hind quarters
  2. That's a good idea. Wire a bit of bacon to the pan. Also gives you more options on disguisinging the trap, and the design of your cubby box.
  3. It goes to show that in certain situations it is better to have the trap in a cubby tunnel without a floor, although in this particular instance, the rig was located at a site where there could be no chance of somebody investigating the trap as kids were present, hence a fully enclosed box. The proper entrance on the box was only inches from the burrow mouth, and I find it really interesting that the rat went to the effort of knawing through 12mm of plywood in order to create its own 'private' access.
  4. Go ahead, Tom. If you would like me to email a pic over to you, I can. (For some reason my Galaxy won't upload pics to THL)
  5. Ahh... I wondered why I'd stopped getting alerts thanks for the heads-up.
  6. Great mod. I like Victors. Too many break-back rat traps are trying to reinvent the wheel, so to speak.
  7. But the best question to ask is - can they be set easily and safely, and do they fire consistently?
  8. If it ain't broke... Just a light brush down and a drop of peanut oil on the moving parts.
  9. The other day I'd set a Fenn in a plywood 'cubby' with a base also made from ply and baffles to guide the target onto the trigger, which I'd baited up with a pile of nuts. The box was placed up against the outside wall of a shed, next to a burrow entrance. By and by, I get a call from the customer; She said 'I can hear the rat in that box making a right racket'. I thought it had managed a foul catch and was in its death throes. 'Don't worry,' I said, 'It'll soon expire.' I was thirty miles away at the time and there wasn't much I could do about it. I went there today and found t

  13. Too wet for moling on a lot of my grounds. I had some sets along a little river bank and only just got to them before they were submerged. It's a messy muddy business at the moment - I'm glad of the christmas break to be honest
  14. It's good, but I'd swap it for a Pard 008 without a second thought...
  15. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8796251 Get one of these, Phil. I use it on a few of my rat permissions. Save yourself £££'s !
  16. That 008 lrf is on my wish list Looks like a game changer for £800.
  17. I ve got some. Very mixed results. Personally I wouldn't go down that road unless you live right close to the grounds. Rifle and thermal/ IR night sights far deadlier.
  18. I just watched a vid of this trap. Is capable of dispatching grey squirrels too. Looks VERY good. Tempted to get one to trial it - £27 off Ebay- ouch. Do you know where I can get cheaper?
  19. Nothing like a good fart. I've usually let one go if I overfill the coal scuttle. The walk back from the bunker sounds like I'm treading on a duck with every step.
  20. I do enjoy this guys mouse trap vids but not sure about his mole traps!
  21. I swear by a bit of cherry shag smoke blown down the cold barrel of a vintage .410. Then send in a dachshund.
