  1. My scope has to be re-zeroed when I put the Nite Site on it. And then re-zeroed again when I remove it. Otherwise, its ok for ratting at 20 yards. But the different zeros are a pain in the ass.
  2. True Shaaark. In my case, with the springer it was me versus the gun, but with the pcp it's me versus myself.
  3. I used to shoot rws hobby out of my 97 out to 20 metres and they were dead on.
  4. Ive got a queen just started building a nest above the bench in my workshed. Fascinating to watch but progress is slow at the moment. I think we need some consistently higher tempretures to get things moving. I opened my woodshed and disturbed a queen which crashlanded on the grass outside and took a while to recover itself before flying off.
  5. Update: no nest, just lots of dopey queens on the windowsills. I shooed them all out before the customer could douse them down with Raid. So, its shaping up to be a good year for wasps.
  6. Anyone done a bona-fide wasp nest yet this year? Just had a call from a customer who says he has one in the loft.
  7. If I buy a Hills Pump will I also need an adaptor for a BSA probe? And what type? Ta.

Any used .177 flavoured guns for sale Essex/ Suffolk area?

    NO VALUE SPECIFIED

  11. And another thing - I was on a FB group the other day and a lad posted up a picture of a mole that had been trapped by the wrist - blood and all. We all know that unfortunately foul catches occasionally happen, but to my mind, uploading images of carnage (especially where it is obvious that the animal must have suffered) to the internet is self destructive to those of us who enjoy the rural life and make a living out of trapping. If the Anti brigade start lobbying parliament with such pictures then I can see mole trapping being banned outright.
  12. I see no benefit to gibbets these days. Those in the know, know. No one else needs to see it.
  13. Knocking on doors is the best way. Get yourself some mole traps and learn to catch moles - a piece of piss once you suss it out, then offer your services as a mole catcher - much easier to get onto peoples land than being a gun wielding unknown quantity. Once your there, and trust has been established, offer to do the moles for nothing in return for the shooting permission. You'll soon have perms coming out your ears. Good luck matey.
  14. Funny old world is mole catching. Popular wisdom, as it was handed to me, always said you must make sure the tunnel is a run that the mole travels in either direction - there's no point setting in a dead-end. And yet, using putangs, I often set in dead ends, and I often catch in them - in fact I catch in them regularly. Another law - 'don't set your traps in mole hills.'. If I'm up against it, I'll often shift a molehill to see if it's sitting on a run and if there's a tunnel running beneath, the traps go in and I often catch that way too. If I'd have stuck rigidly to all
  15. Yes people just ram them randomly into the tops of mole hills . It's bizarre, as if they think the mole is going to scramble obligingly through the soil and neatly trap itself.
  16. I had a box of putanges off Flatpack recently. They're catching well.?
  17. I love mole trappping - still get a buzz out of turning up to a new job and sussing it out. Most of my work is gardens and I always have a walk round before I even touch a trap. Having a good recce is time well spent in my opinion.
  18. I just use 20lb surfcaster mono in bright red. Shows up in the dirt, offers no resistance when the mole pushes the trigger over and cheap as
  19. True re the HW's - although it's a joke (some might say a disgrace) that wiehrauch have never made a gun that was tip-top out of the box.
  20. Same combo I use now. Open up the run and choose what suits it best.
  21. I remember a guy who used to be on here who was/still is one of the best shots I have ever seen(as evidenced by his youtube exploits) saying that he liked his guns running around the 10ft lb mark.
  22. To be successful at moles, the following is important: 1) You turn up when you say you're going to turn up. 2) You set your traps without making more mess than the mole has already created 3) After you've finished - and been paid - mole activity ceases for at least a month. Whether or not you actually catch any moles is another matter entirely.
  23. Those valves on the pipe work - are they automatic bottle vents? Coukd be expelling air and making weird noises? Or beetle in the timbers? Death watch?
