You get problems, and got to be careful not to get them too much, like under shot jaws etc. But my worst ones are minor, a wierd like curled abs of tail and random black patches. So those don’t matter. But I am talking a mob of about 1200 ewes, so there’s a lot of spunk flying about ?

Basically if there’s a real good animal be it dog or bitch, try to get it both sides of a mating and also in a few places each side, and away you go.
-
It’s a bit different with sheep because killing stuff is a lot less of an issue. Also there are several potential sites mating in a mob with all of their previous mates from previous years, plus the off spring from various years, and some new less related sires. But I don’t think it really matters how close you go if it’s working, as long as you can throw in some new good blood if it goes wrong. Also with stock I’m breeding every year.

It’s true or any type of animal, and is something I find it odd that people don’t get, as I come at it from a farming perspective. With sheep and cattle we do a lot of performance recording and linking between sire and dam and offspring, and most traits are massively inheritable obviously, with relatively quick gains to be made. Stuff like lameness, litter size, growth rates, maternal ability, muscle depth, back fat etc etc are all measured and when you find a line which carry’s positive traits for one or more of those you breed toward it, while keeping an eye on what your losing out on.

Your inbox is also full Newkid - trying to PM you mate

If she’s taken I know of a real good litter coming up, but bitch would be about 25” and dog 27”.

Good post. I think one of the issues is, depending upon what you’ve seen etc depends on what you judge as a good dog. Yes it does only need to please you to a point but usually Lurchers have fairly big litters and you have to home the rest of the pups, and hope they have a good home. Real good stock is easier to home and more likely (you’d hope) to stay in a home, than average stock. A lot of folk let sentiment get in the way, they love their dog and want a pup from it, but really they could save the hassle and save ending up with the rest of the litter, and just buy a pip in. With regard

The best thing about this post is it’s reminded me of some of the folk who were on here ten plus years ago. There were some great folk and some great dogs and some great posts.

Fingers crossed for her mate, that bitch is a tough old dog. She's stopped breathing before and we got her back then to. Keeping everything crossed for her.

That’s very true re what’s in terriers, who knows, they were always bred best to best in a local area. I got a pack of Russel’s here, but they started 30 years ago as two rough black fell dogs.
-
Yer I got a little annoyed at old joe, but then when someone is accusing you of passing dogs about etc it’s not ideal. Owned six runners, two are in the ground, four are still in my kennels. Aye I’ve had them at my door to mate. Grassed up by someone who at the time was an employee and a mate, someone who I’d looked after. I dropped you a pm to say I might come across like I’m attacking you or the type of dogs you keep, but it’s not personal and I’d happily have a daft mooch one day, have a natter abs see your dogs in flesh. If not, it don’t bother me to much to be honest. I don’t ev

Just do what everyone else does mate, stick the Beddy over a rough fell type abs then keep the most Beddy looking pup and tell folk you got a working Beddy .....
-
I’m not saying they aren’t out there but I’ve just never really seen any advertised, any out working, on here or even heard of friends of friends having one. From what I can gather, there are some out there but they seem to be all bred with fell, pat etc in them. Maybe there are some ‘pures” out there but you need to be part of some secret society with a funny hand shake and even funnier walk ?
-
Don’t think I’ve ever come across a proper Beddy pup for sale .... ever
-
Now don’t start this again ?
-
No sorry mate I meant the one that started this ? I’ve always said I’ve never seen a good Beddy, so it’s real nice of you to offer me a day out with you. I’m down south of England now but will drive back for a walk out with you mate happily.
-
Disagreement ? ? Your funny, don’t have nowt clever to say so try and use someone else’s epic bellend bull shit as an attempt to rile me ? Fact still remains just as i said, I am but voicing an opinion based upon observation - never seen a Beddy dug to and never seen an outstanding Beddy type Lurcher. Looks like coco is willing to show me some, so there you go, a worthwhile little cat fight ay.
-
Mate there’s only one fool here, and it ain’t me. I’ve tried quite hard to be polite to you in general. Like I said, when it comes to beddys and their xs I’ve only seen shit or average dogs really, to my knowledge anyway. So yer, like I said, very happy to be shown the real deal and all that, but doubt it will be fourth coming. Ps I love the use of the word ‘we’ to make it sound like you’ve got a load of folk there agreeing with you ? the dog don’t count mate. ?

Morton is either just an idiot or someone who used to know a little bit but has spent too many years sitting alone, drinking and living in the past. Don’t know enough about coco to pass judgement but seem to remember he had a line of Beddy bull greys which were smart dogs ? And he’s welsh so he’s one up on Morton already.

I like you ?

Mate you can try to laugh at me as much as you like, I couldn’t give two sh*ts to be honest. I’ve said it enough times so I’m sure you get the gist by now, I fully accept that there are plenty of Lurchers which apparently have Beddy blood in them “doing a bit” but as you know, I struggle to see the reason for the popularity of a first x Beddy runner, as this thread and innumerate others clearly highlight the lack of working beddys, abs given the number of 1st x Beddy whips about, I just don’t get it, when there are lots of other working terrier breeds out there. Ps you must

Working beddys are done mate, history. And don’t get me started on Beddy x Lurchers ?
