It came into my life as an adult dog, so I never saw the parents, so just going on what she says. I struggle to see the lab but apparently she saw the dam and it was deffo a lab x, and the collie is very obvious every single day ?
-
You are most probably correct mate, and if i was offered one out of same type id be so very sorely tempted. Now i wonder if i could convince the mrs that she should get a whippet for her next dog. It can't be much more on a pain in the arse than her current dog, its a 25" collie/grey/lab/grey who has ideas above her station lol.

I didn’t say it was best I’ve had. He was just a special little dog to me. But to be honest all of the ones that have made the grade have been special to me. And that’s only been four dogs, two now dead and two now in my kennels, one of which is retired. Like I said I’m no expert and not connected or owt, just enjoy my dogs and have a little close circle who are the same and we help each other out. As soon as my mate heard I lost my bitch he rang me and said you can breed from mine, to get some pups and the blood back. Another mate offered me his outstanding bitch to line to a dog of my choice

There’s more to life than money. Did a favour for someone recently, saw them today and got given a nice big chunk of ribeye, dinner for two folk and same of t-bone, fresh cut, off cows that spend their live wandering the new forest. And I just went and dropped off two lambs in half lambs to my neighbours and a couple Other folk who live near who have to put up with the barking dogs and me coming back from lamping in early hours and making a racket. Got some fencing to do Monday, in exchange for some good digging etc. Nothing asked for but stuff always offered it good folk. It’s way of the coun

That one I paid for mate, although to be fair he did it for less than asking price and let me have lick of the litter ? but like I said, I knew no one. I’d been back in the uk for I think two or three months when I booked the pup. That’s what I meant I bought my first runner, I was gifted the rest, although I’ve made them take money or given them something. My point was I’m. It connected etc. Just got a dog, did my best and met some sound folk along the way, always done them good turns abs had good turns back. This pup I’m getting, I’ll make the lad end up with 150-250 somehow ?, a good dinner

? now I don’t want to excite you too much but if it all goes to plan and she is a belter, she will have a Sal/bull/grey or the coursing type pup over her eventually. But good coursing blood is ten a penny, throw tHrm a bit of coin and they will Let their dog line anything. Real Good bull x bitches are hard to come by.

I think what I meant was, If I couldn’t guarantee a clone, I don’t know I’d have another. Mike doesn’t breed and I don’t know anyone who runs them, the ones I’ve seen from Mike and similar lines were all thick set things, little bit bully, quite tall (21/22”), not as fast but quite robust. Like I said I don’t know anyone who keeps that type anymore and so for me he was a one off, something I’d always fancied and I had and I enjoyed having but probably won’t seek to replace him. Hope that makes sense ? Also think there are probably a few folk on here who will vouch that he was way more like a s

Dams line bull/grey, sire bull/grey with touch of beardie. Sire now dead. Dam now retired.
-
Bet you can guess ?
-
This wasn’t with regard to the whippet but what came next and why the whippet wasn’t replaced by a whippet ?
-
I did say that ? hell of a gift to!
-
Quite possibly mate, I’ve just seen a few skinny shivery whippets who were very light, had balls got sure though. I also never said my whippet was special above anyone else’s, he was just a massive character and a great dog for me and I don’t think I would want to be comparing a dog to him. In his life he took a lot of rabbits, some Hare, mink, fox, roe, doubled up fallow. Like I said I loved that dog and I’ve always said for me he was a one off. But also I got into other stuff which a bigger dog suited more. Bot entirely sure of the relevance to the price of pup

It’s out of the belly sister to my white bitch I lost start of last season.
-
My first proper running dog was a whippet. I got taken out by a guy on here once ten year ago and had a bight out with his dogs and that set me on the path to what I do now, although I don’t think he will know that.
-
If I’m honest he’s got to be ten years younger than me and probably one of the best dog men I know. Gets the best out of all his dogs and gives them care and attention second to none. Dogs always fit as fiddles and always top grafters.
-
It does indeed cost and that’s what I said to him, he has done one of the best jobs of a dam and litter I’ve seen, as he does with any dog he keeps. But as he said, having what he wants in his kennels and seeing his mates get pleasure from the same, is worth more than money. But there are lots of ways to repay a good turn than money. Money makes things dirty so easily. Edited to add - the dam was gifted to him by another in our group. So it goes round and round
-
So describe or explain being connected ? I came into this with no mates with Lurchers and no back ground in it. I didn’t know anyone with a running dog before I got one really. I’d met one traveller lad and he had a coursing bitch and I went out with him a couple Of times after chatting to him on here. I was hooked, went out with a few more lads and made some good friends off here who I am very close to abs go out a lot with 10-12 years later. I met a young lad recently who’s mad keen on digging, had a bit of bad luck and been screwed around and over by folk. Two of my mates are gift

Funny reading this, had an argument with a mate today, trying to get him to take some money for a very smart pup im getting in three weeks, seven pups in litter, lads keeping two, rest gifted. His words “I’d be offended at you giving me money mate”. So I’ll sort some meds for the dogs etc.

Depends how badly you wanted to take your dogs. I know dogs that have gone between uk and nz, oz, USA and Canada........... -
There’s a lot of truth in that last statement.
-
Stamina maybe, but there are plenty of very fast bull X out there and with regard to brains they can be very smart animals.

Aye, I was there. Think it was January actually, so even tougher hares, 150 acre field. And she was more bull than grey wasn’t she ?
