  1. I don’t think we’ve ever met, but I’ve dug to some dogs from your kennel, when I was keepering in Wales. Very handy dogs from What I can remember! And that sounds like a deal mate ?
  2. Now I’m utterly confused. But as you called me a liar. I couldn’t really give two shits what you think.
  3. Maybe read what has been written then, rather than coming on here arms swinging like some fat kid who’s had his twinkly stolen ?
  4. ? ummmm I think whatever shit is between you and stop.end is all of your own making ?
  5. There is a simple joy to making hay, however it’s probably easier to buy it in. But then again, where’s the fun in that, and if you’re paying £5/6 a bake for horse hay, then it might well be worth it. You will find that 60 acres is actually quite a lot of ground to manage. You will be able to have everything you wish for there. A little herd of nice easy going cattle, few sheep, couple of pigs to fatten for the freezer and enough chickens and ducks for eggs for you, and hey, it’s not a farm yard without chooks is it! I think I might have just worked out who you are ?
  6. Think was more for stop.end....... I don’t think you’re full of shit. I just wonder if you will act like You do on here and end up in a ditch bottom, or if I’m the flesh you’re like most others and somewhat meek and mild ? They say it’s always the quiet ones you got to watch, and that’s not you sunshine ?
  7. It’s being replaced by elms mate so probably better for you in all honesty, all payments linked to enviro stuff. on a serious note if you do need any advice or have any questions, I do a wee bit of farming lol and farm consultancy. Always happy to help a fellow dog man!
  8. I agree, this programme will do a lot of good. I was just highlighting how mad the world of farming is in the uk. No matter how good at farming you are, you cannot buy a farm from it. Crazy! The subsidy system means that you no longer get any secure tenancies. The largest landowner and subsidy claimant in the Uk is James dyson, effectively his holding and subsidy claim Is so great, the government is paying him to buy more farm land every year. It is not a surprise that one of the most progressive ag societies in the world (nz) had its subs pulled pretty much over
  9. Better off sticking a bull x over one, make more of an all rounder wouldn’t it.
  10. And I’d much rather see it farmed then end up a housing estate, trust me! But it’s hard knowing that no matter how good I am at what I do, I’ve got to battle every singe day to be allowed to do it, because there are only so many spaces for ‘farmers’ in the uk ( as opposed to farm hands) and a lot of them are being taken up by rich folk who fancy playing at it, and skewing the market. I dream of owning a farm, I’m good at farming, and my operation makes a profit, but I’d be much better off sacking off the farming going to work in the city. Isn’t that a bit mad?
  11. Yes you’re right, that wasnt the point I was trying to make - just that farmers and now competing with folk who are in same business but don’t need to make any money.
  12. That’s true, but the tree has to grow and survive and the survive 40 years!
  13. I wasn’t talking about him getting the contractors in, just the bit where you correctly said - “it’s not as if he needs to make money out of the farming”. You are indeed correct - the aim of the game is to turnover your money and make no profit so you avoid the tax you’d pay normally. Same with avoiding inheritance tax. So effectively me and clarkson are both producing the same product ‘lamb’, only I am competing against someone who doesn’t need to make it pay, and who gets large amounts of government subsidy. So things like input costs are driven up as they are not related to production value
  14. f**k me you must want to be his mate, mate.
  15. And there in lies another major issue with farming in the uk currently. You’re a builder right ? I can’t remember exactly. Why would happen if you were in competition with building firms that didn’t need to make any money out of building ? And which could pay double for materials and charge 50% of what you did for the same job because money from somewhere else was making up the difference ? How much work would you get and what price would your materials be etc? Folk don’t think of this stuff.
  16. That was an interesting bit, but I don’t know many farmers with walls on their farms who’d call in a Waller to put walls up when sheep knock them down. It’s expensive! Most folk would do it themselves.
  17. Here’s an interesting question - given the amount of debate that’s been on here - who actually runs a first x ? I don’t know many folk that do. Not talking half xs second, third gen etc, but an F1 hybrid ?
  18. Looks like she should be fairly racey as well as strong
  19. Good show. However it does highlight one major issue in the world of British farming. Farmers don’t buy farms anymore, rich city folk do, they buy them for tax purposes and because it’s quite nice that have. The government then pays them loads of money which means they can farm inefficiently and mess about and have a giggle but ultimately not worry too much how productive the farm is. We then import sh*t food from over seas.
  20. The Portuguese also eat carp for some celebration or other, possibly Xmas or Xmas eve ?
  21. That wasn't the question was it you muppet. You said heavy bull blooded dogs were all useless and couldn't do owt but pull from a hole. I merely stated I knew of a heavily bull blooded dog which could catch rabbits well on the lamp, go ferreting, and catch fox and deer on the lamp and in the daytime. It was not my dog, it was owned by another member on here. It wasn't got for doing all of that stuff granted, but it did. Which was why it was put to a taller, leggier, faster dog, to produce some pups that ended up being toppers. I didn't say anything about how many times out of 10
  22. You spent yesterday calling me a liar and slagging my dogs off? Why the f*ck would I want to engage in discussion with you ? I don’t give two f*cks about banter and a bit of sh*t slinging, and folk with different opinions. But I don’t take very kindly to be called a liar. I’m lots of things, but a man who lies about dogs isn’t one of them.
