  1. I think I’d be ok, but who knows. It’s all fantasy anyway isn’t ?
  2. Dunno mate genuinely. Pre ban I took a lad off here out and we killed a good fallow buck with his 23 “ bitch. She did well, she was capable. But it was harder work for her than a dog with the same heart abs a few more inches and pounds. It’s just a fact of life. Same as why boxers etx fight in weight classes. It’s not about being hard or tough.
  3. Thing is, when you say ‘need’ you’re talking about the hardness in them. I personally love them mainly cos they are so biddable, intelligent and personable. Easy to live with and good for all round work.
  4. Five slips usually = a couple hours f*cking about on secret squirrel missions after the dog has put his feet up ? two or three is usually plenty!
  5. You ever heard the phrase a good big un will always beat a good little un. Heart is massively important you’re right, but a dog that’s got a massive heart and a couple of inches and pounds on another dog with a massive heart, will have an easier ride of it all.
  6. I dunno mate, even out small fields are 100 acres ? and they are all divided by wee tracks, no fences.
  7. Without wanting to sound like I’m trying to be a hero, cos I’m not. But if you’re out a lot and give the dog a fair bit of stick, the bull blood, in my opinion, helps the dog have that, get up and go attitude. They might be sore, bruised, wet, cold and smacked about, tired, feet knocked up a bit. But they still dig in and give all. And when they get there, they have the tools to finish the job very quickly and hold some big weights.
  8. Someone better break it to this little bean bag, that she stuffed, no gas, no gears, no chance ?
  9. I dunno mate, bull blood brings a lot to the table.
  10. I think the other thing easily forgotten is most folk don’t run 1st x. You breed to what you want. You keep breeding bull x with speed and stamina together you get a line with increasing speed and stamina etc
  11. Thought today had strong potential for day time drinking....
  12. You are genuinely trying to tell me that a dog that has bull blood in it, for example a Sal bull grey, cannot take multiple deer a night without the aid of a motor and single handed ? I hadn’t read to the end ? Im not talking about half x bull greys here and I don’t think many other folk are. You’re right, most half xs lack the gass for it, just like most saluki xs eventually lack the bottle and the bone for it, apparently. Mix the two together and you get an animal that ticks a lot of boxes. But you don’t need too much saluki ?
  13. I would hazard a guess that there have been, over the years, a few folk who killed deer on big arable land, with dogs with bull blood in them, regular. Could be wrong but don’t think so.
  14. In my opinions coursing bred dog is fine for deer until you start to smack them into a lot of big stuff and then they start to be less fine. A bit of bull mixed with the Sal gives you everything you need mentally and physically for the job at hand.
  15. Ok I’ll give it to you ..... the fawn is a Manchurian sika.
  16. No we have them in the uk but just not this variety ?
  17. The pair are Chinese hogg deer. the fawn should be easy ?
  18. I was feeling up for a debate the other day ? today I’m tired ? But my grandfather went to India before the Second World War as an officer in the Indian army, aged 17 I believe. He stayed in the Indian army until independence and he led Indian troops across Asia, the Middle East and Europe and he was to be on the front of the assault on Japan, but luckily they dropped the bomb. He led Sikhs, Gurkha, Hindus and even a bunch of Ethiopians in the desert for a while. His father before him was an officer in the Indian army for life and led his Sikh troops across our empire, including a very l
  19. To the fawn no. But you’ve hit dumb luck somehow on the other one ?
