That would be great thanks. Am I right in assuming the NV007 simply goes onto your existing scope? So no need to change the whole thing?
-
What would you want for it mate? Thanks

That’s not each to their own that’s wicked. I have always said if you kill a game animal you eat it or put it in the food chain somehow. The argument for pheasant shooting, deer stalking etc falls apart when you start burying edible game.

Never been and wouldn’t. From what I’ve seen and heard it’s like shooting fish in a barrel and yet we coursing people are the ones that are called cruel. The ban has without doubt had a huge negative impact on hares.

Very random round me last weekend the does I caught were either not yet pregnant or were only in by a few weeks or so and this weekend I was bolting babies. The spots were very similar land and only a few miles apart, can never quite work out why some start earlier than others.

A new children's book to promote hunting
Bobtheferret replied to nothernlite's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Got my book today and as a starter for kids to understand why we do what we do it was really good. Probably no point the likes of us buying it as an educational book but be great as a present to give to townie friends to make them understand a bit more about hunting with dogs. -
Went to the funeral of my 23 year old brother in law last year who hung himself and I can say that was not something I ever thought I would have to do and it was harrowing. Look out for those around you lads you just never know what people are dealing with in their own heads. Looking around at the funeral it was genuinely the most tragic thing to see how many people would have been there for him if he had just reached out. Anyone that feels that black dog stalking them just talk to someone.

A new children's book to promote hunting

Ordered it for my little girl, she is a bit young at the moment but loves the dogs and ferrets. -
It all makes me so incredibly f***ing angry, as many others have said above the truth is there is probably nothing we can do. If a million marching on London did nothing last time then whatever we do now probably won’t make any odds. Just feel so ignored and impotent about the entire thing. Only thing to be said in our favour (not that it helped Scotland) is it really worth the parliamentary time? Blair said he regretted it in the end as was just not worth the time. Far far more important issues than killing a rabbit with a dog in the country.

As everyone reading this is no doubt aware this week was a dark dark day for Scottish hunters with all kinds of actual killing of animals with dogs (bar rats and mice) completely banned by the Scottish government. No longer can you catch even a rabbit without the fear of a potential 5 year prison sentence. The organisations that are supposed to be on our side The Countryside Alliance and BACs claimed that no one uses dogs for catching rabbits anymore and as per the main ban and coursing threw us dog men (and women) right under the bus. Make no mistake this will become an issue in England and W

I do understand where your coming from but SNP keep getting a huge amount of votes despite the incredible harm that poisonous dwarf has done to your country from what I have seen, all basically on the back on anti English rhetoric despite the fact Scottish people are getting about £1.25 spent on them for every £1 that English people get, funded by English taxpayers. As an English tax payer I find it quite hard to understand why people vote for her. She has now set the wheels in motion to potentially destroy something I love all for what? To keep some f***ing hippies happy to carry on her insan

Problem is there’s just not enough of us to make an outrage, we dog men are a dying breed and no one gives a f**k about us. I do feel the majority of the public don’t really care either way especially if there was some education about what we do and the benefits but they don’t care enough to make a fuss and that’s all the politicians care about. We English best make the most of it whilst we still can

Unless you’re in view of the public (not a great idea even before the new ban) you just need reasonable reason to have a dog with you. My take if it happened in the same circumstances in England would be I would carry on as usual and just make damn sure I was discreet and always had purse nets or long nets on me and just say the dog is for marking should anyone every question it. This law has very little really to do with rabbits it’s about killing fox hunting once and for all, hatred for the toffs that ride. If you’re sensible I think ferreting can carry on as before but lamping is done for,

This bill was bought about by the greens who snp are in bed with as they don’t actually have full control of parliament. Was a bribe to carry on sturgeon’s insane agenda of independence. Sorry to any decent Scottish lads reading but frankly you lot keep voting her in you can have your independence and be gone. She and the snp are a cancer on society, they have done nothing but drum up division and hatred and all on English taxpayers dime.

Labour calls for toughening of Hunting Act and vows to close ‘loophole’ | Hunting | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM As figures show there have been 438 convictions since 2010, party says it wants to outlaw trail hunting ‘smokescreen’

I am not suggesting overturning the ban just leaving rabbits out if they alter the current legislation, obviously they are currently legal quarry. It was a tabled amendment to the Scottish bill but got voted down.
-
I hope your right but liebour have already been making noises
-
Depressingly spot on. I can only hope if something similar comes in this country rabbits might be excluded but that’s probably unlikely.

After getting my head round this nonsense my take is that the old hunting bill has been completely replaced with a new one that makes any dog killing any mammal other than rats and mice illegal. The confusion yesterday on my part about the 2 dog rule is about flushing game to waiting guns (or nets I assume?), you are allowed to use up to 2 dogs to flush game but not actually kill it. There is no mention anywhere in anything I read about ferreting so I would assume ferreting is still legal (falconry is untouched) but the role of the dog in ferreting I would say is very cloudy indeed. My assumpt

Read the exceptions, more than 2 dogs. Even says that lower down on the bacs website. The headline grabbing is now illegal but the reality is I don’t think it is.
-
On Bacs website they state no hunting of rabbits with more than 2 dogs so I don’t understand why you can’t still use a lurcher on the lamp or ferreting and be within the law.
-
What am I missing? I’ve read that whole thing and it clearly states certain exceptions and the main one I saw was no more than 2 dogs, it’s obviously a shower of absolute nonsense that it’s come to even that but you can still catch a rabbit with a dog.
-
Sorry meant to quote you. See reply above
-
It does but if you then read the exceptions that’s the key part, there are quite a few exceptions. I have read the whole thing and it seems increasingly obvious they basically wanted trail hunting gone as they feel most trail hunters were actually hunting and most importantly they hate the rich toffs that hunt and wanted to close the loophole that was trail hunting. It’s basically as you were just no more trail hunting. Hence the 6 exceptions
