Best Spring Powered Air Rifle
dayglowfrog replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Have you shot a hw99 or 95 ?just saying as it would give some variety to your 97 they can be a bit twangy when new but a tbt kit is only £23 then its all sorted and you could get an interesting calibre .... The walthers have rubish resale value compared to the tx etc check out the trigger problems threads on other forums some people have had major problems and ended up selling them in bits everyone agrees they are great to shoot as long as you dont get a doggy one. There are sone very good second hand deals on the walthers but i would probably want a warrenty . -
What about a .25 hw80 ? You would be better off ordering it from Germany but it would get here in Time for Christmas .

Never tried a 98 but have a short stroked tuned up in .22 its a real peach but the mine is 36 years old and looks it, I also spent over 3 hours polishing the internals . I have a tuned 95 in .22 that would be much easier to carry around all day then an but you have underleavers and the is no worse than them . Since I have joined this forum you have made constant reference to wanting an its obviously an itch that you will need to scratch at some Point so why not now ? I also get the impression you like buying new, I would say of all guns the is one of the safest bets second hand but y

I have a tuned up slavia 631 on its way to me gonna pack it away till xmas only £70 ! I NEED to spend some serious time testing on a range shoot a video about it then sell off a load of my springers depending on my results . I recon i should limit myself to two .177 underlevers for hft two .22 break barrels and two .177 break barrels also keep the old raider single shot .

Double post .

Why not treat yourself to a b2 or a breaker 900 go back to some challenging trigger shooting . Btw hatsan 55 and 60 are the webley stingray with a better saftey but never seen a stock like the one above must be a raider one .they come with quatro triggers as well .

I have shot my first squirrel and I want to tan the hide .its currently in a salt bath and I have a small amount of alum on order, 100grams I think. Got some neatsfoot oil on order and some artificial gut to sew it up . Going to make something out of it not sure what yet maybe a pellet pouch . Looked allover the internet and quantities seem to vary wildly on the alum front maybe its very cheap in America I am not using 2lbs of salt and 1 lb of alum for one hide. Does anyone have any solid tips ?

Is it a delrin top hat ? Have you checked that it hasnt snapped this has happend to me and took me a while to work out why it wasnt grouping. Have you checked scope mounts snd scope one of my scopes will only let you fo about 10 shots before it starts wandering.

Starting Out, What Gun To Start With...
dayglowfrog replied to BlackDog1's topic in General Airgun Discussion
If you do get a tx then getting an adjustable one piece sportsmatch mount will give you perfect height to get 15-40 yards almost straight through in .177 with a x50 scope this makes a massive difference . -

Dont forget hw99 alot of people end up with one of these having tried loads of other springers.very light ,very acurate, very fun . If you are planning on target shooting as in hft then you need .177 in a springer or you will be out in the open class against .22 pcp. -
I just got hold of a very old webley raider single shot a few weeks ago its a bit bit battered and looks like it got sprayed with acid but I have to agree stunningly accurate. Just got it cheep to try out pcp but I am a springer man and always will be. The guns I will keep are my tx ,97,99, and probably my stoeger x20 as that's what I started with.

I have fitted three tbt kits and all been briliant .he will do you a bespoke kit for your spring if you send it to him ,but they fit stsndard springs well anyway .

A Group Or Two With The Tx 200
dayglowfrog replied to mark williams's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I like shooting dots and cross hairs too great fun . -
The 208 range have the diana trigger copy and i think the syng is tge panther copy so it should be very good.

I bought my for £75 missing its trigger adjustment screw no real blueing as such just a sort of brown colour lots of dings to the stock but then it is 36 years old .it had the remains of a cocking aid and and an angled cut barrel .bit of a sad state and firing at least 18ftp (since found my old chrono has been reading low) It now has a massive silencer a 77 spring piston sleave tbt kit to the spring and a 12mm short stroke I also spent three hours polishing with a drill . It has a 4-12x50 ao mountmaster making it even heavier but It is very quiet and shoots at around 10.5 ftp on h&n ft

They Are Ordered ! 5000 Express .177
dayglowfrog replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
The voymer guy goes on a 1000 mile trip to collect the pellets from the factory , fair play to him though. -
Is that better or not ? Just found someone selling new panthers for £120 .

Just had some fun in my in-laws garden with two shooters who have been airgun shooters for years but spend most of the time shooting shotguns and rim fires these days. All guns .177 except the .22. Range max measured 30 yards The 97 is not sorted and has major scope creep. So no score there new scope needed for evaluation. is short stroked tbt kit 77 spring and had three hours polishing by me to be fair . Would hit every thing it was pointed at no question but after 10 shots made your arms hurt . TX200hc standard tune as far as I know, just as accurate but proved more h

I Want A B2 !! What's Wrong With Me ?
dayglowfrog replied to dayglowfrog's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Don't get all panick stricken but they didn't have any b2 s in stock and have been waiting for a long time. Not sure if its a national shortage yet but just thought I should warn you. On the plus side it stopped me buying one and I was good only buying 3 tins of pellets. -
Aa Tx200 Hc Or Weihrauch Hw97K ?
dayglowfrog replied to Lloyd90's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have both just got a sporter stock for my previously hw97kt now its very similar to the TX . Not had them long enough to really say which is better for me. my 97 had a v mach kit fitted by previous owner so it should be a direct comparison with my standard tx . I can say the TX has so far been much easier to use and get good results from but as stated I have been messing about with the 97 and not settled with it yet. Just fitted another scope to it and will be seeing how that goes. -
Feel this strange urge to get a b2 . I think its because I missed out on the totally bottom end of the market . My first rifle is a now heavily modded stoeger x20s closely followed by 900x both .22 . Then a hw99 .177 and a Hassan 55 .177 both tuned. Then a 1980 hw80 .22 . Then a tx hc and a 97 both .177 my tx is the only untuned rifle I have. So why do I feel the need to get a b2 ? Think it might be because I am working near a shop that sells them for £ 38 and I fancy a new challenge or maybe my standards have dropped and since it could be a while before I can get a pro sport . I wil

Never tried a pro sport got a tx and a 97 I thought a major reason for having two piece mounts is how they spread the weight of the scope over the top of the gun giving a better distribution and less hold sensitivity . In my book once you have the scope in the perfect location then spread the mounts as far apart as poss to spread the weight I have a one piece mount on a big scope and you can tell the defference but then that is on my 99 a very light nimble gun that probably shouldn't have a masive scope on it. Why not just get another airsporter ?? supose that would ruin the rose tinted memo

Hi short stroke and tbt does calm the gun down alot it will never be a 99 but it does make it a bit more mild manored .
