  1. Mesh is the easiest form of tunnel for bodygrips... I use weldmesh 2" its nice and rigid, I then just put a quick layer of chicken mesh over it, primarily to stop pheasants sticking their heads in and prevent any other birds also... Squirrels aren't shy, concealment of traps is more to hide from the human element...especially on ground level..

    Any ideas?

Just back from me hols sorry guys..I've adjusted some things, so hopefully this should speed things up a lot...let me know if not...
  4. If your not bothered about protection and just want to rapidly darken traps, try sticking a pan outside over some heat, get some oak bark in there, I made an oak bark and tea bag concoction awhile ago boiled the traps up, they come out jet black...although they will still rust..so if thats a concern you would need to use another method... i.e a dip either petroleum or water based...paint them...or just leave them be...
  5. One pays 25p, the other 40p a pigeon here...

  7. Had it a few year now John, had hilux before that... Blasted things just cost me a few quid mind for test, UJ joint, fuel pressure regulator and damper bushes.......
  8. Thanks for the help. Just one other question then...does the spring have to be situated at 90° to the trap? Or can it be facing straight up/down as well? Presumably this wouldn't affect it's effectiveness... You can put the spring whatever position you like, it doesn't have to be sat at 90deg.
  9. To answer 1. No you use the trap vertically placed so it fires towards the target...don't try and use it horizontally.. 2. Use any tunnel, wood, plastic, weld mesh, etc with a slot cut for the spring or just stabilise trap and bend spring arm down out the way and put weld mesh tunnel over.. Theres many ways of stabilising the trap, If your new to them, I'd recommend getting a hold of the bodygrip basics DVD to give you a better understanding of how they work and some examples of stabilising them... Its got our very own chalkwarren and snareman on it also

  16. Got to agree excellent thread lads, should be a lot more topics like these... maybe I should create an archive on the different subjects, so they don't get lost
  17. Closed season for rabbit ?? Thats one thing that will never happen... Messers control them all year round, a true master only hunts in winter and neigh on eradicates the full population, packing their bags over summer, breeding elsewhere, never causing crop damage and never to return until the next winter...... Don't get me on the rocket science bit again .....If someone can be taught the essentials in a day or two by someone with a lifetimes practical experience like pegandgun and go out and catch rabbits after, then its not rocket science.... its passing on knowledge, and that person
  18. P&G's point was refering to the mk6, he actually says the mk4 does a much better job in killing squirrels, preventing foul catches than the mk6...Same as if you use a #55bodygrip on squigs your going to have less foul catches than a 110 or 116 if your using them in any number, although theres ways to overcome the size issue with BG's..
  19. Likes mens bottoms and vienesse swirls!

  20. If there anyones opinion to be valued or taken in its P&G's..... My findings with these, I've used both types of trap, the Mk6 Fenn and the bodygrips for rabbits what I find is using the 116 BG on runs for rabbits everyone was dead, either caught around the head/kneck or chest regions. Saying that I've caught squirrels in the same traps and had them caught around the mid/back region alive, even with trap placement and cubbys tight, you can never legislate for everything….The fenns I've had the odd catch around the kneck, were on checking the rabbits have been alive, most were dead.
  21. I've spoke to keepers and they say the rabbits have taken a hit this year on the higher ground, with a big drop in their numbers....the lower ground has not been affected at all barely in comparison... One things for sure, nature has tried and man has tried, you will never wipe out the rabbit, they are born survivors.. I can't quite grasp the idea of the pest control of rabbits during spring/summer being called butchery. Rabbits breed all year round, they have an open season and are a major pest, the same reason muntjac were given an open season, for there ability to breed all year round.
  22. Yes the laws are pretty pathetic....total ban will be next, then they will move onto trapping, then onto the shoots and fishing..... Sadly I think we will see it in our lifetimes, most of the people with the power are blinkered, makes me angry, its always too little too late....
  23. Setup an account with mixpod, then create an album and when you view your album at the top of the screen in the address bar there should be some numbers at the end of the URL, thats what you put in..
