Absolutely off topic but someone mentioned Stan Boardman on here the other day. Hes 87 and I’ve just watched him being interviewed on tv. In the early eighties I used to fish on a salmon beat where one of the members was a county court judge. Some kids around 15 or 16 were found poaching at night with a lamp and home made tridents to spear the fish. Its got worse in recent years. they they pressed forward with reducing the categories for which you could claim legal aid, Thus reducing the amount of people who can afford to take cases to court, this gives the appearance that the court backlogs are coming down. I have never really understood the pro argument for killing convicted criminals. I get the just rewards and an eye for an eye part but personally I would rather be killed than spend the rest of my life locked up. Some crimes should be just that, once caught and convicted then they are removed from society and are never given the opportunity to re-offend. No convicted peodophile should ever be released from prison. I don't give a shit if we kill them or not, just do not give them a prison sentence and then release them once that term has been served. I’ve told this tale on here before; my brother was called up for jury service and the case was an old man accused of stealing a packet of bacon, (this was many years ago, now the police wouldn’t have turned up never mind it going to court). At the jury deliberations, my brother told the other jurors it was a disgrace the case even made it to court, the old man was either hungry, or forgetful and there was absolutely no chance of him finding him guilty. The jury passed a unanimous not guilty verdict. Cheers.

If you were callled for jury service, how many members on here would find a bloke charged in pursuit of game with a lurcher guilty? Not many if any. Juries are not '12 good men and true'. They come into court with existing beliefs and prejudices. A jury found OJ Simpson not guilty ffs.! It's a flawed system.
