My woodland is only 8.5 acres , and it's mainly pretty mature oak. I reckon that a pretty good estimate of the acorns hanging in the trees , and what have already fallen , is pretty close to 500 tons . I've seen plenty of acorns over the years , but it has to be seen to be believed this year. Last year , it was a struggle to find enough acorns to fill two pint pots , to send to my mate that grows oak saplings In five minutes yesterday , I collected a bucket full of hazelnuts, from underneath just one tree , thats already given me about three buckets full .
