Dig-deep-draw-charlie 2,713
I can forgive a pup for coming out, but I could not forgive an older dog. dont get me wrong there’s a few reasons y it could come out, ie the dog may be sore or not, but they are all down to the man who owns the dogs, if the dog is sore or not Fit for example and it walks, then it’s human error in my view, 1 Quote Link to post
dillydog 8,530
Unless you were there and actually saw it come out then we shouldn't have any opinions. There's plenty of reasons for a dog to come out, if it walked through cowardice and quit cold then that's a different story. I had a drop of this blood in my yard and the only complaint I had was they were way to hard and stupid for their own good. Ray was a strange cup of tea, a character that's for sure, he was no one's fool with a terrier though. He couldn't wait to call a dog shit and he wouldn't keep anything second rate, he'd make a big deal about anything coming away, he'd look you straight in the face and say "it f***ing reneged duck" .........I'll wait for you to Google reneged 1 2 Quote Link to post

Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Only ever heard good about the dog, and certainly left his mark in some good kennels of digging dogs. Quote Link to post
Blackmag 6,930
McCoy never walked when I saw him and I never heard of him doing so far better lads than me rated him highly I did see a couple of his offspring and they were very good dogs in fact after one dig a stiff one at that a good friend said after I commented said he's not his sire he was better but he's decent to dig too maybe the dog was having a bad day 2 Quote Link to post

If he was with his quarry and came out he jacked if he couldn't get to his quarry why didn't he dig on and if he had an upset tummy why did he walk I wouldn't get a day of work for it So many excuse lead to so many failures Quote Link to post

If your ill you can’t work, especially if it’s a taxing job. We are talking about animals here not machines, if you don’t have them in good health they won’t work hard forever. If my dog was to walk the first thing I would look at is myself, have I missed something that’s a bit off with the dog. If I’m confident that he is fit for the job, I’ll take him out again and keep a close eye on him. If it reoccurs I’d say the dog has had enough and Pts and I can sleep at night knowing I gave the dog a fair go. I’ve a dog there that’s done me 4 seasons of hard digging, he came off after 90 minutes to ground last season, I was devastated but decided I’d give him another go. I dug him over 30 times last season, and I dug 7m with him last week on two digs On the Saturday and Sunday, I could have Pts but I’m glad I didn’t. 7 1 Quote Link to post

Ya will know a jacker from a stumble 6 Quote Link to post

Just because a dog is a world beater, never missed a beat type dog, doesn’t mean that he’ll re-produce himself. How many times has it been the case that the superstar from a litter produces bugger all and his brother who’s an honest average digging dog has produced worker after worker? 2 1 Quote Link to post
