Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Was he digging tight to cubs AT? Thats usually the problem this time of year digging to strong dogs, they push up too tight. I lost one this time of year about 8 years ago. It's not nice. Quote Link to post
Haiddheliwr 1,911
So glad everythin was ok in the end, really not a nice situation for dog and man to be in. A bit early for cubs RH down my end maybe with this mild weather a few months ago I could be wrong! Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Good to hear mate. When we dug my dog the quarry was dead too. Totally blocked off the air. Haidhelliwr theres 100% cubs about. My mate has dropped on 3 litters and another mate dug a Vixen the other day with cubs in her. Also a mate in NI has dropped on them too. Quote Link to post
Haiddheliwr 1,911
Not surprised with the weather we have had RH not come accross any yet and not heard of any been dug! Probably dig to some tomorrow lol Quote Link to post
Haiddheliwr 1,911
Thinking about it it has been a poor season for the terriers compared to previous ones! Hounds have struggled to put any to ground the scent has been hit and miss almost constantly all season! Quote Link to post

I lost one this time of year about 8 years ago. It's not nice. he was 8ft,first foot easy then 6ft of solid clay he went quiet 2 ft to go I knew something wasn't right, box read 1:8 ft he had been quiet 10 mins still same spot my mates saying he might have hold but I knew something was up we just started to dig in to him made a hole size of fist through luckily right on top of him could just see a bit of his collar my mAte squeezed hand through and lifted him out of sand he was lifeless his quarry was right there in the sand with him, got him out he was ice cold I cleaned airways cleared his mouth etc and he inhaled a big Breath I wrapped him in my fleece put him in rucksack and carried him back to keepers place put car heaters on full gave him bits water etc and just talked to him and rubbed him etc he came around after about an hour, was scary stuff , my vet just checked him over again today says hes ok atb At Well done mate I'm glad it turned out alright for and your little warrior. A terrier is one of the bravest animals on the planet JMHO. 3 Quote Link to post
