Wonder why his Muslim master told him to do that ? Did he not vote ? It was pointless,Starmer put a three line whip on his MP’s and they have a massive majority. The motion was never going to pass. Badenoch proposed it knowing full well it would fail but it would make Starmer look like both a coward and a bully. I think Starmer has played this terribly, he should have referred himself to the Standards committee, now all his opponents can call him a coward. Cheers.

chartpolski 30,381
It’s quite telling that a lot of the Labour MP’s who voted against Starmer or refused to vote were North East MP’s. Normally a staunch Labour area. Maybe a clue as to how next weeks local, Welsh and Scottish elections are going to go ? Cheers.
jukel123 10,581
Politicians are made completely differently to the average person. If I had a job in a goldfish bowl environment . Where everybody held me in contempt. Where my continued presence damaged the company I worked for . Where my workmates hated me. Where my dodgy private life was being aired in court. Where every day was one crisis after another. I would jack and do something else. Life is too short for that kind of pressure. But politicians have to be dragged by their bleeding fingernails out of their jobs. They are weird masochistic feckers. Keir Hardie must be resting uneasy at the thought of his namesake inheriting the Labour Party leadership. I see at least one union has decreased its contribution to the Labour Party citing lack of support and treachery from Labour. I expect others will follow suit. They were elected because they were not the tories . But who the f**k are they? Who do they represent? Edited 14 hours ago by jukel123
chartpolski 30,381
Starmer shows huge political naivety with almost every decision. Kemi, and I’m certainly NOT a supporter, played a blinder by asking for a debate and a vote on whether Starmer should be referred to the Privileges Committee that she knew had no chance of passing but would put Labour and the Speaker in a no-win situation. Speaker Hoyle couldn’t refuse the request as it would look like he wasn’t impartial and supported Starmer and Labour. Labour MP’s had the choice to vote with their conscience or toe the Labour line. Starmer had three choices; Refer himself to the Privileges Committee, which are predominantly Labour MP’s. Allow his MP’s a Free vote and hope enough would support him. Or lay down a Three Line Whip and threaten any Labour MP who voted against him with expulsion. He chose the third and worst option which makes him look like a coward and a bully and now puts him in the position of sacking the 15 MP’s who voted against him or backing down and confirming he’s a coward . He fell right into the political trap. Just my take on it Its a great time to be a political nerd Cheers.

As a fellow political nerd I'm transfixed both at events here and over the pond.Plus I can't think of a football season with such a gripping end. Top and bottom of the premiership are nail biting. Top of the Scottish premiership is a knife edge. Even Carlisle, led by Mark Hughes, are in the play offs for promotion from the National league. I'm watching PSG Bayern at the minute. 5_4 to PSG. My cup runneth over.

As I've said in another post, I find the situation in the Strait scary but kind of morbidly fascinating. How long will China put up with its vital oil tankers being held up in the Strait? Or are they getting through? We just don't know. We are only fed half the story from the media. And even the half we are fed changes according to the individual affiliations of particular media platforms. Trump's ratings are falling like a stone and his party must be seriously pissed off at their backsides being on the line just as the mid term elections approach. Trump and his team could, at any minute, change tack and begin bombing again.Trump is not used to being unpopular and may try to end the war decisively in order to appear strong and retrieve favour and credibility. Russia is delighted in selling its oil at bonanza rates. While Starmer, unsuccessfully tries to garner some popularity and credibility from his indecision and bungling. All good fun. Kind of.
