I heard a rumour last year that gun clubs here were advised to keep an eye out for lads working terriers and to report it. I know alot of farmers that if they heard this would never let a pheasant pen on their land again never mind the rats shooting. In a lot of cases the farmer can do without the hunt and the gun clubs but for various reasons they need the terrierman. Thank god a lot of them are sensible and understand this and value the work done. I shoot but I wouldn't trust the gun lads as far as I could throw them going back to the early 80s they were all the same I remember a syndicate next door were I had permission had a earth open up the lad in charge wanted to shoot them but he had done the dirty on a old lad about ferreting a few rabbits I dug it normally I let a vixen run like my old man always did but I killed both and left them in the farm yard knowing he would find out lad in charge next door came by my house took my number plate and passed over to gamekeepers and police but I wouldn't trust them feckers they have no morals

The majority of shooters are just as bad, turning their backs on everyone because they didn’t think it would affect them, but in time it will Although I'm no commy I quite like the European version where you join the local hunt/shoot and for a small fee it's attainable for everyone, here it's more a case of the haves and have nots , it's a strange game , I'm not a fan of servs that defend the hierarchy, I got disillusioned at a young age , also I can't think what loyalty exists in modern hunting or fishing tbh . I believe in every man to his sport and I'd also say making things illegal invites the wrong sorts . A very broad argument really

jukel123 10,052
I don't think the new legislation will have much impact on the hunts. They will just say they are exercising their horses and hounds. No law against that and they have permission from landowners. If a fox is killed they will claim it was an accident same as now. It will be utterly pointless legislation. Unfortunately we can't use a similar argument because we often don't have permission. This is partly because we don't have the clout or the influence over landowners hat they have and partly because we are seen as low life. There's generally nothing in it for landowners giving us permission and they don't want to be associated with anything potentially unlawful. The UK must be the most restricted country on earth when it comes to field sports. Big brother is alive and well in North Korea and the UK. 2

Restrictive as f*ck and getting worse,no crown or public use land,I can see a time airguns will be licenced and ferreting banned, the screw is tightening on all freedoms. 3
