There's still a good vets there with some great young lasses who love dogs and more importantly aren't afraid of them. Something which is important when dealing with a tired curmudgeonly old terrier and is becoming increasingly difficult to find these day. Loved this remembrance display! An estate then and now that would no doubt fall into the deprived category. When I lived there everyone was skint but many good families and lack of money did not mean poor quality of life or upbringing. Probably still deprived but still predominantly British. Edited to say: I had my 1st pint in this club, McEwans Scotch 52p. 1st time I went hunting in Scotland I asked for a pint of Scotch in a bar in Hawick. Wearing a cheap fake Barbour and 2nd hand pit boots from an uncle. The barman stared at me and said "are sure you can afford it son?" What country was this in? I ask this as the England flag has been clearly excluded. I see the following flags on top of the 'lest we forget' poster: Scotland, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and Wales. What about England? Are we no longer in the UK? Why the exclusion? Fed up with all the anti-English nonsense and the exclusion of our flag. 'Lest we forget' it says. Well, it looks like the contribution of the English has been totally forgotten. What a tragic state of affairs this country is in when England is excluded from a war remembrance poster while only the other three countries of the UK are included. Heartbreaking, really.
