I'm no expert at this guys, but in my home area after WW2 there was  a shortage of dogs available, a local gamekeepers black lab was (unknown to him) put over all sorts of bitches to produce some good field sport related dogs including lurchers, and a lot of them turned out to be great pot fillers.  Its a nice rural story if nothing else!

Speaking of WW2 just watching on the box. That hull was the second most hit after London in WW2. Hessle hard hit area. Some survivors talking.
