STIFFMEISTER off here recommened the Bret the Hitman Hart autobiography to me, it's a really good read, heartbreaking in places.. like you say the schedule and pressure plays a heavy toll on the wrestlers in the end... from about 10 to 14 I'd watch the WWF, we'd all chuck each other around as kids pretending we were Ultimate Warrior or Hulk..etc... probably always knew it was fake shit at heart, but back then it was massive... And by the way it totally stuns me that normal everyday English blokes watch that soppy wrestling shit i only know who Hulk Hogan is from Rocky 3 Think your a bit older than me mate, I remember Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy etc.. but WWF was massive when I was a kid, by early teens you were out of it, but as a young kid is was the done thing to pick your mate up and supplex him on the pavement lol

The ultimate warrior, that was a man who could fill a room full of energy and have all us in school thinking we were him, the macho man too, he was the most intense during his call out videos, fulla cocaine and roids, great time for us as kids but these men broke theyre bodies in the name of fame and fortune, even the minx miss elizabeth died due to drug overdose when hooked up with lex luger, im surprised ric flair is still with us at his age lol, 90% died young

Bosun11 537 Posted yesterday at 06:23 Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:23 I was never into American wrestling. Though I do remember raising an eyebrow at Hogan in the Rocky film and thought he'd probably kill Shirley Crabtree. 'Ol Kent Walton would shit himself with all that vocal... Then I watched it and couldn't get past the shouting.... For Gnasher, the film The Wrestler, starring Micky Rourke is a great insight to the life, and a powerful but poignant film too. I'd bet you'd enjoy it. Also The Iron Claw, a true story about a wrestling family, I also really enjoyed.
