I think it was 1995 and I paid £620 for the insurance, I remember it because it’s the most I’ve ever paid for insurance

Doesn't sound bad that tbf for an xr2 and sounds like you had alot of fun in it

Hands down the greatest lamping wagon of all time , the escort 75 van  Are you even a lurcher man if you’ve never had one ? At one time in Carlisle you would genuinely see a dozen a time fuelling

Escort van, I had one before I passed my test and drove it a few times stupidly and sold it my father in law before I got in trouble  but got another one after I passed. Handy vehicle for the dogs etc.

I had an excort van someone gave it me think it'd been round the houses before I got it but it was a cracker not a bit of bother then typically got nicked

MK III Ford Cortina estate, 1.6 or 1.8L (I forget which), red with black vinyl roof. A good dog bus when it worked but that was hit n miss. Paid £350 for it, my life savings, on the dole at the time and dad went ballistic when he found out, 17 and on the dole. However, me and my mate had a plan, once mobile the world was our lobster and we would earn big bucks catching the big bucks. Only problem being that I had Jack Russells and his lurcher only really excelled in finding and retrieving hedgehogs. He loved to chase the big bucks but it never entered his head to actually try and catch one, but we didn't leave many places without a hedgehog to release.

My brother in law wrote his car off and needed a run around until a new car could be sorted and offered me £100. Dad made me take the money. When his new car was sourced the dealer refused to take my beautiful Cortina in part ex as apparently parts of it were made of wood.

It was quality having a car like that at 18, for some reason I got it into my head I wanted a BMW, sold the xr2 and bought one, I instantly regretted it

Opel Kadet cost me 50 quid, 3 days later the gearbox fell out on the Kingsmead Estate and i walked away from it....next day bought a Mk 1 Capri for £175 this one lasted over a week....then had an electrical fire.

I gave up with cars for a while after that until i could actually afford one !

That's a nice car and you must of been proud of yourself owning that at that age you was doing well an xr2 and then onto a bmw.

Apart from what I drive now I think the xr2 would be the one I’d want to own now out of all the cars I’ve had, just for the memories of being 18 and driving it like I’d stolen it

Id love an rs turbo

I used to have one, it was on an F reg, there was always something wrong with that car, I didn’t half waste some money on it

It was all when I still lived at home with mam and dad, I had a well paid job and no bills so just used to spend it all on cars and motocross bikes, happy days
