But Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the 87 fa Cup is bigger I think.. Have you never heard the interview with fashanu and vinnie talking about the tunnel before the game . ? apparently they literally bullied McMahon and made as much carry in as they could before the game , doing karate and shouting cowboy noises as the teams formed up . Vinnie hit him with a tackle early doors and he disappeared after that . When Aldridge stepped up , vinnie was shouting at him as well . I love stuff like that
tatsblisters 11,084
Not really one for sports bar boxing and the most memorable one for me was watching Barry McGuigan win the world title watching it in the local working men's club that was packed out and with other lads who at last had a few bob in their pockets after going back to work after the year long pit strike a few months before this fight the atmosphere was electric in the club everyone cheering McGuigan on.

Against Eusebio Pedroza, yep, cracking fight.

What his body went through and he still had all that power. Another all black Jerry Collins was a great player. He showed up and done a training session with us at u15’s. And wore the club socks whilst playing for barbarians

pesky1972 5,689 Posted Monday at 15:29 Author Report Share Posted Monday at 15:29 Maybe not a great football moment, but believe it was one of the best punches thrown in a post-match interview.
WILF 51,173 Posted Monday at 16:59 Report Share Posted Monday at 16:59 Genuinely one of the most underrated men in the game, this really ruined his career but any lad who ever played will be looking at this and going “yep, fair play son” The man is a Londoner and has never lost or curbed his accent and now drives a cab for a living……but that accent belies the fact he holds a top level FA coaching badge and has done for decades before anyone had hardly heard of badges, lied about his age to get into the youth system at Arsenal (he said he was 14 when he was 12), joined Chelsea youth and adult, Millwall, Gillingham and Leyton Orient ! If he had Jose’s accent he’d have gone a long way, as it is he talks like a docker and irons out people who take liberty’s…..told Geoff Hurst to go f**k himself when Hurst was his manager ! But his knowledge of the game and how you play, both technically and the mentality required, is second to none ! Proper football man !
