comanche 3,292 Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 21:15 (edited) A very old friend and l manage a few days fishing together every season. He usually out catches me . When l do catch something decent it is almost always by some fluke or in odd circimstances. Not only that , it's a standing joke that l only ever catch disabled fish . One classic example of many was a 5lb tench caught a year or two ago from his club lake . I was marvelling at the perfection of my biggest tench ever when my mate cruelly pointed out that it had two fins missing! Anyway, a week ago he came as a guest on the little farm pond l have permission on, and trounced me on home ground. Of the five tench he caught a couple were particularly good for a farm pond . A nice roach and a few hard fighting little carp also came to his net . I was really pleased ; it's great when a guest does well. For my part l did manage some tiddlers and a reasonable tench but true to form it was a bit defective. Cue some mild micky taking at my expense as my mate did the netting honours . A couple of days later l had a session on my own .Bites were slow to come but a large brown goldfish thingy provided a surprise. A bigger surprise came whenI also caught the same bloomin wonky tench l'd had just two days previously! Thus cementing my reputation for only being able to catch weird fish or those with disabilities! Edited Thursday at 07:53 by comanche 8 1 Quote Link to post

Rickshaw swami 4,373
I enjoyed yalls posts of taking others out fishing.I dont take many people to my good creeks but yesterday I took a friend along.I wanted him to have a memorable day.Hes a very experienced bass fishermen so I knew it would be a hard order to fill. We left the truck at daylight.Started catching Spotted bass immediately We fished upstream for 8 hours.Catching bass on every stick, rock or truck tire in the creek.I took a 6 foot fall off a rock ledge around lunch.Bruised me up but nothing was broken.Kept on fishing. When we made it to the last hole of the day I was exhausted from catching fish and walking.I was pretty sure I had just caught my most bass ever. I asked my guest how many fish we caught as he was keeping up with it. He said 300 bass!!! He told me it was the best day he ever had fishing. The most I had ever caught with a guest was 150.We made the climb up out of the gorge and walked a train track 2 hours back to truck. 12 Quote Link to post

There are days when it all goes wrong and l'm glad nobody is there to see it . Then there are the ones that you really want to share with a friend. Has to be a good friend though . What a fantastic day's fishing you had . 300 fish! And a long walk to prove you earned them . Far more satisfying than driving up to the river and fishing out of the boot of your car.
