You can fish outside the rowing club for free but it,gets hammered and does get busy at times and you get the clowns there...get decent barbel to 14 lb-carp 30lb plus...below the bridge is owned by Mr M.Timins,he leases the waters to MDAS... everything above and below Monmouth town is owned by MDAS, Glamorgan,Caerphilly district,Newport AC,the Wye and Usk foundation and Angling dreams are the only ones that sell day tickets £25/£35 per day, there's a few private stretches you can book😬....there's no night fishing-but we do allow our members to fish ,and be off the river for 12 o'clock, rods in,back out an HR before sunrise..the section your pals been fishing is closed to course fishing until October...just a little heads up for you, because it's patrolled and he's handy with  his fists😉👍

If there's any spaces left,I do a family ticket ,£70,covers an adult and 2 kids under 16,or £65 per adult,£50 oap-we have a 200 members cap per yr..your paying a few hundred plus a joining fee for all the others bar Newport from memory 👍Screenshot_20250625-083318.png.3c63a0a9ca1ce492e883d91806f9b870.png

50 bar for a OAP f**k me. Lol Thats bang out of order. Even getting ripped off my the Angling clubs now. Haha. 65 for an adult but 50 notes for an OAP. How many years have the older generation the OAP put into our waters. Many maintained by them. The younger generation just want to fish. Dont want to put the hours in looking after the waters. You get some that want to better the waters keep clean maintenance work around the waters. But you get many that dont want to do shit.

£50 a year is peanuts for the amount of fishing at their disposal, nothing when a day ticket is £10/£25 🤣the last 20 years,I myself personally have maintained, strimmed and renewed every f***ing swim along the Wye,monnow, throthy etc..or no cnut, young or old can even walk the banks....most the old boys in the club, only give a f**k about their estate lake tench fishing...cry when they get snapped off by carp lol...I'm the youngest committee member, trustee and head bailiff, everyone else is in the late 70's/80's pal....it just so happens that all the committee have just voted that Myself and my family, will never have to buy a season ticket,so long as we got holes in our arseholes.... because of the effort,my time and my own money I've put into the club...they was on their last legs before I became involved 😁they have even offered me a wage, which I kindly refused ...we have over 40 k in the bank pal,it's one of the top course fishing sections of river in the country....and that ain't because of a few oldtimers👍

Below me is £180 per year and you have to be vetted and vouched for, opposite me is £200 plus, shit access and parking, you have a 1/2 mile walk with your kit😁,above me is £380 per yr and a 5 yr waiting list... because it's where they filmed the great rod race etc and all the celebrities fish it,Bob and Paul and Ted the Patterdale,Carl and Alex,Ali Hamid,Dean Macey, all the Korda lads Spooner Tom Dove, met them all over the yrs and enjoyed the craic 😉

If you get bored fishing, then there's untold game you can watch or drop with a dog lol...it's been my own personal playground for years to do as I please...and there isn't anything I won't do to protect mine and the clubs interests mate, I always act first, before thinking of any consequences, it's a fair old walk back to civilization ,when every window, tyre and panel on your motor is f****d lol👍

I'm not even a balif on the local waters but years back put a Vaxhall vectra on all 4s. Polish c**ts were long netting one of local syndicate lakes. All in all before they got caught. About 20 grands worth of fish they'd taken out of 4 strip's. Mid night I looks out of window. Motor parking up near mine. A seen three lads get out one with a net sticking out of rucksack.

A rang mark up who was the balif at the time. Hes got on blower to law before getting dressed. They've seen us coming onto the carpark at the otherside. Chipped through this wood area back onto the road.  Silly c**ts tried f***ing off in the motor. But wasn't going nowhere with four tyres f****d. Lol. Law caught the c**ts.
