Granted, but that’s a very short sighted view. So would banning alcohol be equally as well received by you ? And meat ??

Do they harm other people like smoking does, no they don't.

Passive smoking and smoke on clothes can cause ailments in children and other people, ban it.

Hard one for me this, the libertarian part of me totally agrees with you but the logical progression is that we allow drugs which I wouldn’t like to see.

I not going to say it won’t work because they managed it in pubs and restaurants here and that would have been unthinkable at one time but now it’s normal.

What it will definitely do is create a criminal market which isn’t a good thing when so many countries (and I’m assuming New Zealand isn’t exempt) already have their hands full fighting drugs.

Complicated mate…….at the minute smoking is only of detriment to those who do it, everything else about it in terms of revenue generated is great.

This will see it become something else imho……..the bootlegger will be gearing up for a bonanza !

thats not true is it - its a detrement to social housing/landlords, kids of smokers, health services, police forces and probably many other things

Are you serious ?

Alcohol doesn’t harm folk ?

I believe it was ranked as the number one most socially harmful drug.

The amount of day to day violence, domestic abuse and hospital admissions that are fuelled by alcohol?

The huge amount of police time wasted dealing with alcohol related things ?

The people who get killed by drunk drivers ?

As for meat - now I don’t buy this one but it is being argued by some that it’s hugely environmentally damaging (I dont believe it is ).

It is not the same thing though is it, that's human behaviour and not the substance itself.

It doesn't matter wether you smoke moderately or in excess, passive smoking is still damaging to other people.

Ban it!

Think your missing my point ?...it's all about control?if you can't see that and are happy to agree....then your a bigger fool than you let on ??

No it's not, it's about banning fools from a foolish habit that is not only damaging to themselves but damaging to others.

You talk about control regarding the vaccine and such, well those in charge don't need to coerce smokers, the puddings are paying for it themselves. ?

Well it is the same - people’s consumption of alcohol causes lots of harm to many of them and others, so why not ban it ?

Passive smoking is only an issue is you smoke around non smokers.

No it's not the same, not even close mate.

I drank 8 cans of Stella last weekend at home, that didn't harm my kids, it only harmed my wife after I knocked the fcuk out of her.

You get my point though, it isn't the same.
