I know mate when I was younger we never got many after October. Honestly stood in a T shirt like a summers day knocking Mackerel after Mackerel think we had about 60 not counting the little joeys we threw back. All on float fishing, there was eastern europeans catching shit loads on feather and keeping every thing. The harbour was alive with live bait fish and the birds working and of coarse them seals, they reckon they counted 35 seals in the harbour the other day.

Things are changing at a rapid rate mate they are catching Tope, Spurdogs, and Rays through the winter of beaches that never threw them up before.

Cheers Arry

Mad aint it mate... the summer was hit and miss and it's teeming with em in the winter!!

I'm down you way 2 weekends time for a couple of nights, Salcombe area, might steal an early morning or evening off the rocks/beach somewhere...

Believe it or not they didn't turn up in numbers til Oct then disappeared and came back a week or 2 ago.

We get mackerel all year now and just the other night I managed to catch a gar with a landing net well up a river.

Our waters down here are warm enough to hold things like mackerel and Bream all  year now

wow....that's amazing guy's how much the climate has changed....mind you....fresh mackerel in the winter months would be nice.....

Honestly mate you can catch them all year down here off the harbour walls now, not always good numbers like Arry had but enough for food or bait

Weve always had bass all year because we have 4/5 nursery's close but the cod fishing gets worse every year down here. You can now though target Bream or even triggers so it's swings and roundabouts. We also now get a good run of really good whiting which personally I prefer to cod anyway.

What should have been the British record bass was caught not far from you and the same lad has had several doubles close to you now. Layde Bay is also throwing up decent blondes in sept/oct

These showed up in about 2005 and been here every since, Couches Bream now caught regularly and bigger I've had them to 2lb. A beautiful fish imo.

I always secretly envied craftsmen, artists, people with creativity, I wish my brain was wired up like that, put a pic up when it's finished if you can? ?

I will  if I go back , I made it all in the workshop and I've been on site this morning doing a bit of snagging and templates for the worktops,  if I go back to  fit the worktops I'll get some pictures  depends on the schedule. Here's a nice one I finished a bit back.
