No views to share, just a sorry tale from work yesterday. Travelled from Gateshead to Scarborough for a site visit approx 5 hour round trip depending on traffic. Parked at Washington services and got picked up by a work colleague in the interests of saving the planet. Had a good day, site visit very productive and had the opportunity to catch up with an old friend and nice to have a break from driving.

Got back to Washington services and luckily my friend went inside to get a sandwich rather than driving straight off. It was only then that I realised that the jacket I was wearing was not the one that I had travelled down in. That one had been hung up in the site office in Scarborough and was I wearing a hi-viz jacket from site. My car and house keys were in the pocket of the jacket left behind. DOH!

I did consider pm'ing mr. Mackem and ask if he could fly over and get me into the house but ended up calling a locksmith I know to get in. Had spare car key in the house. My mate has since let the world and his dog know about my "senior moment" 🙂

Probably die if your planting them straight into ground at this time of year

We done a load a couple winters ago, an was told best time to do em was when they was dormant as long as not too wet, the vast majority of them are thriving now

Best time of year to do it, they are being planted on built up ground as well so their feet won’t be too wet over winter, a couple of years ago they got a grant to make a small woodland, they wanted us to do it but had to have someone like natural England to do it, they did it in late spring, 90% are dead, where as the hedge I planted for them in the November is now 3’ high and ready to be cut back

I did this one 3 years ago same time of year and never had to replace any 👍

That will do for today, she’s ordered 5 per meter so I’ve got a few left because that’s too many with the laurel, she’s also asked if we’ll plant the pond up that we did for them, of course we will, so I’ll now be on YouTube because I’ve made a few ponds but never planted one

No fish in it yet, I’m trying to convince them not to put koi in it, it would be perfect for trout, it goes from 6” at one end to almost 7’ deep at the other and it’s got a constant fresh water inlet, it would be criminal not to put trout in it
