Where did the Chinese get the technology from ?

Was it "reversed engineered " from things we produced, just like the jet engines that Wilson gave the Russians in exchange for wood in the aftermath of World War Two, that were then used in MIG's in the Korean War to defeat us and the US ?

Are the Chinese really better than the west at R&D, or are they just producing sub-standard , cheap, built-in-obsolescence crap ?

Cheers.

Do you reckon Britain is going to have to cut costs for firms at some point ?…..it can’t keep up the hurdles and costs now it has left the EU institution can it ?
Going to need to be leaner and meaner than that long term surely ?
The £8 part wouldn’t matter as much if the lower costs compensated for it would it mate ?

Absolutely, you know as well as me we are hit from all angles... employing people is expensive, rent/rates are expensive, we are taxed at every point along the way...from the purchase to the sale.... but... there are schemes to help UK manufacturing, its a lot of form filling abd bullshit...but the government does recognise the need to invest...now how you use the money is key...I've witnessed every twat take loans during lockdown and spunk it on a new car whilst their company hasn't done a stroke...madness.. we are masters of f***ing it ourselves as well....its not just the governments fault...

The one thing I will say, to put a made in Britain badge on your product is a massive selling point here and in the US (they will not buy Chinese), you can demand more than shit Chinese built product...there is no doubt in that.... its swings and round abouts...if I had them made in China no overhead, no control on build quality, no Made in Britain.. but better margin...

I can only talk from my own point of view mate, and don't want to sound like I've got it all worked out ...I certainly haven't...just its morally correct and commercially correct for me

Another reason why I won't send a full product over ... you can have all the IP protection in the world and they'll copy you....its the last market place you want to sale product ..as once they've got it...its gone!! Lol

Unless the state subsidises manufacturing then we will never compete with China. We expect a higher standard of living and as such overheads are higher.

‘Made in China’ used to be synonymous with ‘shite’. But they’ve been at it a long time now and they have the quality down so we can’t even beat them on that.

Im in a similar situation to Newkid in my job, I’m leading the commercialisation of a technological product and contracting out certain aspects of the design and manufacturing. I don’t think I could get it done if I demanded we boycott China. Not to mention I’d certainly be fired given they’re a major market

One place we can and do beat China is R&D.
