I had similar off a guy from a neighbouring 8 storey block screaming where's your hard hat I looked up to blue sky .., three floors down heard a yelp looked over , a lad had gone through the back of his hand with a Stanley cutting cement boards , if id had your quick thinking I'd have tossed my hard hat down...

Got bollocked today had to chop some cut outs in a fibreglass walkway panel , hs came out said I'm making dust , no breathing apparatus, why aren't I cutting it behind a fence etc. I just stopped and came back out with a recip to finish off , 60m away they're cutting the concrete road with a monster petrol disc push along job no water dust everywhere , no eye ear , but they had a hard hat on...

A lot of health and safety is good stuff , but a lot of it is complete and utter nonsense .

Our guys at work run around in live traffic all day (sometimes dual carriageways etc ), dragging a pair of bins behind them( the first few hours in the dark at this time of year) , but they aren't allowed to cross the roads when they're back at the yard . It's f***ing ridiculous nonsense dreamed up by a pencil pusher that knows f**k all.

I have to take a 30 minute tacho break , and the toilet is a 6 minute walk because we're not allowed to cross the road , and have to walk half way around the yard.

Mate, I know….like I’m all for lads being safe and not expecting them to risk themselves….its just a job at the end of the day, we all want to go home in one piece….i remember  the bad old days of “if you don’t like it, f**k off” when lads were asked to do extremely dodgy stuff….but how much is this utter nonsense costing everyone ?

Because at the end of the day, it’s all built in to the prices of everything….it filters to everyone, everywhere eventually.

A completely non productive yet massive chunk of the economy

I suppose back injuries must be rife keep looking in everyone’s bin for the wrong type of rubbish like the f***ing stasi mate ?

In all honesty wilf , I haven't let my lads look in bins for years . The shit you breath in will f***ing kill you.

I only pointed out all of the rules a few months ago to wind seagull up , because he's such a f***ing bell end.

I remember during covid, we went to Scotland fishing. Afterwards we went in a little bar and tried to order a pint. It was a tiny thin bar with nobody more than 4 yards from the bar and bar man. The barman says ' can't serve you as you have no mask on'. I points to a bloke sat at the bar drinking with no mask and asks about him... 'yeah but he's been served and is sat down'.  Absolute fckin retards.

Within the last couple of days the lads I mostly work with are on the books, will do anything asked , my gaffer treats them like dogs tbh, the day he speaks to me like he does the rest I'm gone , so a job that should've been craned in was lifted in a narrow corridor with Chinese electric hoists , they put a strop around lifted one end then the other strop slipped and put a hole in concrete I just said I'm going for break try and stay alive , someone will lose something, but it won't be me , saw hs walk past and pretend not to notice but they've dealt cards to lads not wearing safety specs , it's a joke..

My brother worked for the local council for 45 years, he was Health & Safety manager.

Anyway, they needed a carpet fitter to do a job in an office, just a short term hire. 
My brother got his mate, Bobby the floor, as opposed to his other pal Bobby the roof in and he had an induction and was left to do the job. 
My brother went to check on him and Bob was laying the carpet, resplendent in carpet slippers, (what else ?), my brother said Bob , you have to wear safety boots, hi-viz vest, hard hat and gloves !

Bob gave him a scornfull look, shook his head, packed his Stanley knife away and walked off the job !

The council sparks said they couldn’t do little fiddly jobs wearing gloves, so they came to a compromise and allowed them to cut the fingers off the gloves

Its a good job we didn’t have H&S when I was in the Middle East, we’d have got nothing done !

Yeah we lost a Paki or Phillipino or two, but there were plenty more

Just joking, I’m not really that callous .
