He’ll be a good age in September around 12months so I’m guessing I’ll start him off from there ease him into it. The greyhound now lol...

He sired a couple of litters my mate had, got a couple of half decent A1 dogs but nothing special.

My oldman and grandad were into racing back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s and we owned a few greyhounds most came from Ireland as youngsters from what I remember. The two I can really remember at home, one tomahawk (Tom) was an excellent dog on the track and grade A sprint dog, big powerful fawn dog who my dad ruined in the field, much to my grandads annoyance lol he still had a good shortish career despite losing a few toes from what I remember. Speaking to my dad he ran him sensibly in the field and says he was a very clever runner but never retrieved anything. The second a bitch Lady Poppins (lady) a black, out of Irish derby winner was a distance dog and didn’t make any really top shakes in the track although she did win 32 races, but was very good in the field and as I was older I watched her race every Friday night and often walked her pre race great times. She was a very good dog in the field from what my dad says but at that point he had ltd there work in the field after ruining Tom. Lady was a much more durable smaller bitch and from what I remember never had bad injury she also raced until 6 year old (way beyond normal) moving down the grades. She was also more biddable and would happily retrieve (without the terriers present) when retired she lamped consistently in her old age although not huge numbers. The Tom dog blood was added to a line of lurchers my dad kept alongside some friends and he produced some good workers on all game, infact my dads last lurcher was the same line. But I think he was the last of his known blood. As the local tracks closed he moved onto lurchers himself, generally greyhound x deerhound types and from what he says they were obviously more durable and suited to the job. All the greys we had always had lovely natures (excluding with cats lol) and I don’t necessarily personally think a decent one raised correctly couldn’t be ran sensibly with good success but it was generally heart in your mouth every run from what I remember as a youngster (loved it) atb

The old first x deer/grey bitch I have was out of Westmead Hawks sister.

Very fast in her day for a 29", 75lb bitch.

remember that day Aarron brought that grey down to mine when he had that day coursing on the big estate....first time it ever ran any live quarry....its first run was a long one in and out a hedge...till it got away.....you said put him away now aarron...but he never.....it ended up killing the next hare....missing the 3rd....killing the 4th....again you were saying thats enough ...but he ran a 5th....and as predicted the dog went over....i was only 50 meter away and got to the dog got my coat on him to keep him warm....got him to his feet....my mrs then walked him down to the keepers house for warmth and a bit of food.....he was lucky not to feck him right up

I used to race against Sava in the early days of the Westmead story, he had a couple of decent dogs that left their mark. Didn't like the bloke himself much but decent dogs.

Got dogmandont and Aussie laughing thinking a little whippet is going to beat a 26” coursing dog over 100 meters you boys need to get out see some proper dogs they get there plodder name from sat working the hare some won’t try until it’s time when they could a made a catch maybe already not because there slow how can a dog keep up with a hare if it’s slow lol more speed and agility than any think we hunt but the breed that excels is slow??

I think he was up there  quality mate knew when the line was made it look easy ballyreagan Bob is also  great to watch went and went   You think he would a beaten Bob over 6 bends max

He came well after my time lol, I'm going back 30 plus years.
