Rabbit Pie ! And, for the purists, made with shortcrust pastry, NOT puff pastry ! ? ! Cheers.

Treat off my dad tonight, he's a friend on the fresh fish stall up town... Scallops and lemon sole fillets...

Family get together at ours, so a bit of a spread.. 13 hour cooked brisket, slow cooked pork shoulder.. Home made coleslaw, stuffing, roasties... and a 2 day hangover! Lol

Spent most of yesterday making pheasant jerky , and my mrs made roast hazelnut flapjack .

The hazelnuts came from my woodland ( bumper crop this year), and has a layer of dark chocolate.

The pheasants also came from my woodland,  and the jerky was made using a spiced tandoori mix ( added to my usual cure).

I wish that id added a bit of food colouring to the jerky , but both are delicious , and I've made enough jerky to last until next year.

Picked some nice cookers earlier, stewed them in dark brown sugar and lemon juice, they don’t look too clever but they smell amazing, I’m sure the mother-in-law will give me her opinion when I drop her one off

Roast Leg of Lamb today. Try something I read about the other day, I roasted half the potatoes in Mayonnaise. Just put the fluffed par boiled spud (Maris piper) in a bowl with the Mayonnaise with black pepper garlic powder, onion powder stirred them, then in a oven dish.

Ones on the right are the ones done in Mayonnaise.

What were they like?

Really nice Stav, they have no Mayonnaise taste but it enhances the potato taste and nice and crispy.

Isn't the old saying if there's a bumper fruit and nuts crop its a sign of a hard winter to come?
