Not tried that yet mate, off to Oistins tonight for the fish fry, was here 20 years ago and had a great night down there.. The locals are the most friendly of any carribean island imo, we've been to Antigua the last few years but prefer Barbados, beautiful place and really welcoming people... We're on all inclusive but will hardly be in the hotel, that's my idea of hell, get out amongst the locals and see what you can find... I guess you get across here a bit with your girls family? If you get the chance try Cou Cou with flying fish. Its the bajan national dish.My missus don't like it but her aunt makes it for me whenever she's back at her UK house as she knows I love it so much.Fella I work with has just got back and the plumber we use was over a couple of months back and all they went on about the other day was Oistins.I haven't been yet as my girl hasn't been over in the last 10years since her boy started at school but she went at least once a year for 26years before that and says she would go out on her own even at 16 and never once felt unsafe and reckons as a white English person shop workers, waiting staff etc would look after me before the would her.Wheras in Jamaica she said she always felt on edge and she's actually 1/2 jamaican and her sons dad is full jamaican by blood,They were there staying with his parents who moved back there and built a home when the retired here. She recons as soon as the locals heard there Enlish accent prices would go up and she found the men disgusting and crude even in front of her then partner.Ive even got 3 mates who's parents came from Barbados,2 dog lads and 1 in the scooter scene that have been pals before I ever met my girl and they are all very nice and very Christian people. She says the other Islands even call Barbados little England. And then there's the lovely accent.Much softer almost a bit country bumpkin,I've noticed a lot of the elders like Auntie who's 72 still have their accent even if the came to the UK as children.
