Ken's Deputy 4,463
I once spoke to a girl who wanted me to harness her up, like a horse, whilst she was naked. Then 'Drive' her through the town whilst yelling abuse at her. But, I think she was German. So, not really sure if it fits?

The lad I know that’s won it, walks round with a 25litre water container tied to his belt beforehand to aid his launch a gram of base and about 10 cans, him and his mate have both won it and been runners up but have broken shoulder, collar bones and wrists in the process, I think local celebrity Fred west buried his ex wife at muchmerkel we’re the cheese rolling hill is, they did try and ban it a few years back through health and safety but the locals just went ahead anyway then they threatened to have the woman arrested for providing the cheese so they got one from somewhere else and done it anyways it’s in there dna 1 1
shovel leaner 7,650
Cheese rolling !!! Coopers hill overlooks the village I live in and used to be a part of the estate I keeper , I think English nature or woodland trust own it now . I competed in it myself when I was young . It always used to be a local thing , Brockworth lads always won the cheeses , in my day Steve Gyde was the champion then Steve Brain and just lately Anderson I forget his first name . However with the advent of the tinterweb , you get people from all over coming to compete and strike it off their bucket list . I promise you one thing , if you come and have a go , it looks a lot steeper from the top than it does at the bottom, and you will have your ass in your hand on the start line . You may think it’s a bit of West Country nonsense, but I can tell you that the locals take it seriously and it is in our blood . There used to be a cheese rolling committee, who were responsible for organising the event. They were your typical Vicar of Dibley types . Like with a lot of things nowadays , the dreaded health and safety got involved and talk of insurance. The committee decided that to pay for all this they were going to start charging. Well the locals were having none of it and pitchforks in hand ( alright I made that bit up) issued death threats and threats of burning down the houses of the committee members if this happened. The committee washed their hands of it and cancelled the event . So the community just got some cheese went up the hill and chucked it down and chased it anyway. To avoid litigation the person who rolls the cheese was masked ( it was my brother in law sssh) . And that is how it carries on , no health and safety , no insurance, it’s at your own risk . If you are stupid enough run down that hill , don’t be surprised if you end up in A&E . Also the woman who has made the cheese ( double Gloucester) for years Mrs Smart , had a visit from the police, telling her that if she supplied the cheese she could be held liable for any damages. She went to the local paper and told them how she was intimidated by them , a massive own goal and the paper was inundated with letters of support for Mrs Smart and the police apologised. Mrs Smart says “if someone wants to come into my shop and buy a cheese , I can’t tell them not to roll it down a hill “ . So all done with a nod and a wink , the cheese is collected and payed for by (mysterious shoppers) . Unfortunately the event was cancelled this year because of COVID , but I can tell you that the locals made sure that a cheese was chased , to keep the tradition alive . You might visit Brockworth and think it’s a sleepy backwater and the locals talk with a slow West Country accent and nothing much happens. But when it comes to cheese rolling, we don’t take any shit . The cheese will continue to roll and there is nothing the police or government can do to stop it . 4
